Hello darling! 🤍
Welcome back to the blog! I’m so happy you’re here today. I’m sitting here with a warm cup of english tea, curled up in my favourite chair, reflecting on a topic that I know so many of us struggle with, debt. It can feel like a heavy, suffocating cloud, casting shadows on every part of your life. I’ve been there, and I want to share a few tips with you. It hasn’t been easy, but through it all, I’ve learned that with God’s help, freedom is possible. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your finances today, know that you’re not alone, and there’s always hope in His provision.
I want to share my story with you, not just about becoming debt-free, but about the power of trusting God with your finances and surrendering everything to Him, no matter how impossible the situation seems.
The Burden of Debt
My financial struggles began like many others, gradually. At first, it was just a little bit of credit card debt here, and a loan there. But over time, those small amounts began to add up, and soon I was trapped in a cycle of debt that felt impossible to escape. The bills piled up, the letters and emails from creditors increased, and I found myself constantly anxious, unable to sleep at night. It wasn’t just the financial pressure; it was the emotional toll that came with it. I was ashamed, frustrated, and scared.
There was a point when I honestly felt like I was at the end of my rope. I had tried everything I could think of to get on top of it, budgeting, cutting back, even taking on extra work, but nothing seemed to make a dent in the mountain of debt I was facing. I remember thinking that there was no way I could keep going. I had lost hope.
But God had a different plan for me.
Surrendering My Finances to God
In my hopelessness, I realised I needed to do something different. I had been trying to control my financial situation on my own, but it was clear that I couldn’t do it alone. I decided to surrender my finances to God. I prayed for wisdom and guidance, knowing that I couldn’t fix everything by myself. I knew it was time to trust God fully with my finances, and that’s when everything began to change.
It wasn’t an immediate solution, and it didn’t happen overnight. But slowly, I started to see a shift in my heart and in my financial situation. The first step was letting go of the fear and the shame. I stopped trying to hide from my debt and instead faced it head-on, knowing that God was with me every step of the way.
One of the first things I did was reach out for help. I received practical tools and guidance on how to manage my finances. I was given help to create a financial plan that worked for my situation and supported me in prioritising my debt payments. It wasn’t easy, but with help, I began to take control of my finances again.
God’s Provision in the Process
As I continued to follow God’s guidance and stick to my new financial plan, something amazing began to happen. I wasn’t just seeing progress in my finances, I was feeling a sense of peace that I hadn’t experienced in years. I could feel God’s presence and His wisdom guiding me each step of the way.
God didn’t just help me reduce my debt, though. He also taught me invaluable lessons about how to handle my money in a way that aligned with His will. I started to see finances not as a source of stress, but as an area of my life where I could honour God. I learned the importance of budgeting, of saving, and of being intentional with every penny. But more importantly, I learned to trust God in every decision.
What’s amazing is that as I trusted God with my finances, I saw His provision in ways I never could have imagined. I received unexpected blessings, whether through extra income, reduced bills, or opportunities I hadn’t considered before. It wasn’t that the debt disappeared overnight, but I could see God working in my life, providing what I needed and making a way when it seemed like there was none.
Trusting God’s Timing
One of the hardest parts of this journey was learning to trust God’s timing. We live in a world that expects quick fixes and instant results, but I had to learn that God’s plan for me was bigger than just solving my financial problems. His timing is perfect, and He works in ways that are beyond our understanding. There were times when I wanted immediate relief when I wanted the debt to vanish in an instant. But God was teaching me something deeper, He was teaching me patience and trust in His timing.
Through this process, I learned to be content, to find peace in the waiting, and to rest in the fact that God would provide in His perfect timing. He has always been faithful, and I have learned to trust Him even when the answer isn’t immediate.
A Life Transformed
Today, I’m not debt-free yet, but I’m in a place where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I no longer carry the same burden of fear and anxiety that I once did. My heart is full of hope, and I am confident that God will continue to provide and guide me as I work towards becoming debt-free.
This journey has not been easy, but it has been one of the biggest blessings of my life. I’ve learned to trust God in a way I never have before, and I’ve seen firsthand how He provides when we surrender our struggles to Him.
Trusting God with Your Finances
If you’re reading this and struggling with debt, I want you to know that you are not alone. There is hope, and God is bigger than any financial challenge you face. I encourage you to trust God with your finances, just as I did. Surrender your worries and your debt to Him, and watch as He makes a way for you.
In Philippians 4:19, we are reminded that “my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” God knows exactly what you need, and He promises to provide. You don’t have to carry the weight of debt alone. Allow God to guide you, just as He guided me.
