Hello, my darling! Welcome back to the blog! 💌

I hope you’ve been keeping well and navigating the chaos of life with grace. Right now, I’m sipping my beloved cup of tea (because clichés are comforting), with my daughter in dreamland and the house resembling a mini hurricane aftermath. But hey, that’s life with little ones—a mix of beautiful messes and precious moments.

As I sit here in the middle of it all, I’ve been thinking about something that’s been on my heart lately: modesty. Now, before you think, “Oh no, another lecture on clothing,” let me assure you, this is different. Modesty isn’t just about what we wear; it’s about honouring God with our whole selves—inside and out.

What Is Modesty Really About?

When I started my journey, I had so many questions: What does modesty mean? Does it mean giving up my favourite Zara outfits? I quickly learned it’s not about perfection or following strict dress codes. Instead, modesty is about aligning our hearts with God’s love so that it naturally influences how we present ourselves.

For instance, as 1 Peter 1:16 reminds us, “Be ye holy, for I am holy.” Modesty is a reflection of God’s character in us. It’s about being intentional—whether I’m wearing a dress for date night with my husband or leggings to chase my toddler. It’s not about hiding who we are but celebrating our identity in Christ through how we live and dress.

Outward Reflection of an Inward Heart

Our outward appearance often mirrors our inner state. For example, on days when we feel off, even our clothes don’t seem to fit right, do they? Similarly, modesty flows from a heart changed by God.

That said, modesty goes beyond fashion—it’s a lifestyle. It’s how we speak, treat others, and present ourselves online. Moreover, it’s not about judging others but letting God’s love shape every aspect of our lives. When we focus on honouring God, the beauty of that intention naturally shines outward.

Pride vs. Purpose

Pride can easily sneak in, can’t it? We all have moments of thinking, “I look amazing today!” While it’s okay to feel confident, modesty helps us shift the focus from ourselves to God. As Proverbs 16:18 warns, “Pride goes before destruction,” reminding us to keep our worth rooted in Christ, not external validation.

When we dress or act modestly, we redirect attention to God’s love and grace. It’s about making Him the centre, not ourselves.

Modesty as Self-Respect

Modesty isn’t about shame—it’s about respect for ourselves as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). Dressing modestly can be an act of self-respect, reflecting confidence in knowing we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Additionally, true confidence doesn’t come from fitting in or seeking attention. Instead, it comes from embracing our worth in Christ and letting that shine through every aspect of our lives.

Let’s Take This Journey Together

If God is prompting you to explore modesty, take it one step at a time. There’s no rush or one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, this journey is personal and rooted in His unique calling for your life.
