Hey darling!
Welcome back to the blog! Before I start today’s blog post topic, let me give you a little behind-the-scenes glimpse of what’s been happening on my end. Lately, I’ve been working closely with my hubby on our little business venture. We’ve been taking time every afternoon to chip away at it whenever we can, and honestly, it’s been such a rewarding process. After a productive session with him today, I whipped up a quick meal, we watched a talk together, and then I decided to come up to my office to write this blog post. It’s one of those quiet moments when I can sit and reflect. Soon, I’ll be heading out to pick up our daughter from nursery, today’s a half-day, which gives us a bit of time to focus on business or get things done solo. We juggle it all, working together, spending time with our little one, and still finding those moments to focus on the things that matter most. With that said, I really wanted to talk about a topic that’s been on my heart lately: surrendering yourself for more. It’s something that’s been amazing for me, and I’m excited to share more about it with you today. So let’s get into it!
Surrender. It’s a word that can stir up fear, uncertainty, and resistance within us. But what if surrender isn’t something to be afraid of? What if, by letting go, we gain something far more valuable than we could ever imagine?
The Journey of Surrender
I’ve often found myself struggling with the idea of surrendering to God. After all, who wants to give up control, right? I was reminded that surrender isn’t about losing something; it’s about gaining more than I ever could on my own. It’s easy to be a “fan” of Jesus attending church, admiring His teachings, and appreciating His miracles from a distance. But being a follower of Jesus is something completely different. It’s about making a daily, active choice to live for Him, trust His will, and submit to His plan—even when it doesn’t align with my own desires.
When I look at it through this lens, I realise that being a fan might feel good at the moment, but it’s the act of surrendering fully to Jesus that transforms my life. I’ve learned that surrender requires me to daily give up my plans, my comfort, and my will so that God can work His perfect will through me.
Surrendering Isn’t About Losing; It’s About Gaining
I’ll be honest: I’ve often feared that surrendering would mean I’d have to give up something that mattered to me. Maybe it’s my own sense of control or my personal desires that I’ve held onto tightly. Surrendering to God isn’t about losing; it’s about gaining more more peace, more joy, more purpose, and more of His presence. God’s plans are always better than my own, and when I trust Him with every part of my life, He blesses me in ways I couldn’t have imagined on my own.
I’ve also learned that surrender is an ongoing journey, not a one-time decision. Every day, I have to choose to surrender again. It’s a daily process of letting go and trusting that God’s plans will always exceed anything I could ever create for myself. And when I surrender my will to God, I don’t just let go of control, I receive the strength, wisdom, and peace that only He can provide.
Practical Ways I Surrender
I’m not perfect, but here are some ways I’ve been able to practically surrender to God and invite Him into every area of my life:
- Making Time for Prayer and Reflection: Prayer has become a powerful tool in helping me align my heart with God’s will. It’s not just about asking for things; it’s about listening, seeking His guidance, and offering my plans and desires to Him. In the stillness, I’ve found clarity and direction.
- Obeying Even When It’s Hard: Surrendering to God means obeying even when I don’t fully understand or when it’s uncomfortable. I’ve learned that God’s ways are always higher than mine, and obedience is an act of trust. It strengthens my relationship with Him and brings me closer to the life He’s called me to live.
- Letting Go of Control: I’m a planner, and I like to be in control. But surrendering to God has taught me that control is an illusion. I have to release the need to have everything figured out and trust that God is in control of my life.
- Surrounding Myself with Support: I’ve found that being part of a community of believers who support and encourage me is crucial in my journey of surrender. Together, we remind each other of God’s promises, pray for one another, and hold each other accountable in our walk with Christ.
- Being Honest with God: Sometimes, the first step to surrender is simply being honest with God about where I am struggling. He knows my heart, and He welcomes my transparency. When I come to Him with my fears, doubts, and desires, He meets me with grace and helps me move forward.
Encouragement
If you’re like me and struggling with surrender, know that it’s okay. It’s a process. There will be moments when you’ll feel uncertain or overwhelmed. But here’s the beautiful truth: the more we surrender to God, the more He will work in and through us. Surrender doesn’t mean we lose, it means we gain. We gain everything that truly matters: a deeper connection with our Creator and the fulfilment that comes from living a life of purpose.
Tips for Surrendering Well
- Start Small: If surrendering feels overwhelming, start with small steps. Surrendering the little things will build your trust and confidence to surrender bigger areas of your life.
- Let Go of Perfectionism: Don’t wait until you feel “perfect” to surrender. God doesn’t expect perfection, He just wants your willingness.
- Remember God’s Love for You: Surrender isn’t about giving up joy or freedom. It’s about aligning yourself with the One who knows you best and loves you most. Trust that His plans for you are good, even when it’s hard to see the bigger picture.
At the end of the day, surrendering to God isn’t about losing—it’s about gaining more than we ever thought possible. It’s about trusting that He has something better in store for us than we could ever create on our own. So, I choose to surrender, daily, to His will and embrace the abundant life He promises. I pray you’ll choose to do the same.
As I reflect on the journey of surrender, I’m reminded that it’s not about losing control; it’s about gaining the fullness of what God has planned for us. Surrendering may not always be easy, but the more we let go of our own will and trust in His, the more we open ourselves up to the abundant life He promises. Whether it’s in our work, our relationships, or our personal growth, surrendering to God means stepping into a life of peace, purpose, and unimaginable blessings. So, if you’re on this path of surrender, remember: it’s a process, but it’s worth it.
Thanks for reading today, I pray you experience the power of surrender in your journey.
Sending blessings to you!
