Hello my darling, welcome back to the blog! I’m currently sitting at my kitchen table, enjoying my first proper cup of tea for the day (the kind that’s strong enough to wake up the entire neighbourhood), while my daughter is in the other room doing her best impression of a mini whirlwind. Seriously, how does one tiny human manage to create such utter chaos in such a short amount of time? Ah, the joys of motherhood. But here we are, in the middle of it all, and I’m reminded of something that gives me peace: as children of God, we have a unique authority that comes from Him. It’s easy to get swept up in the busyness of life and forget about this power we’ve been gifted, but today I want to take a step back and dig into what it means to live boldly in that authority, especially through prayer.
I’m sure you’ve had those days (like me) when you’re just trying to get a moment of peace, and then, as if on cue, the toddler has a meltdown over the blue cup not being blue enough. It’s in these moments of madness that I’m reminded that, despite everything going on around me, I have the power to pray, to speak with authority, and to shift things in the spiritual realm. It’s time to stop shrinking back and start stepping forward in the authority God has already given us. So grab your favourite warm drink (I won’t judge if it’s coffee, let’s be real, I’ve had days where only coffee will do), and let’s chat about how we can step into our God-given authority in prayer.
The Power of Prayer
Prayer isn’t just words. It’s an act of war in the spiritual realm. It’s the way we connect with our Heavenly Father and invite His will into our lives. Movies like War Room beautifully depict the power of strategic, intentional prayer. In one of my favourite scenes, a character learns to stop fighting people and circumstances the natural and instead takes her fight to the Lord in prayer. That’s a lesson for all of us.
The Bible tells us in Luke 10:19:
“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”
When we pray, we’re not just whispering wishes into the air. We are declaring truth, resisting the enemy, and standing firm in the promises of God.
Facing Challenges with Boldness
It’s easy to feel unqualified or defeated, especially when our past mistakes or current struggles weigh us down. But here’s the truth: God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. In Christ, we are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). Our pasts don’t disqualify us; they become testimonies of God’s grace.
Practical Steps to Reclaim Authority Through Prayer
- Identify the Real Enemy
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our struggle isn’t against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil. Recognize that the battle is spiritual, and fight accordingly. - Find a War Room
This doesn’t have to be a literal room. It can be any quiet space where you can focus on prayer. Write down Scriptures, promises, and prayer requests, and commit them to God daily. - Pray Scripture
The Word of God is a powerful weapon. Pray verses like Psalm 91 for protection, Isaiah 54:17 for victory, or Philippians 4:6-7 for peace. - Surround Yourself with Believers
If you don’t have a group of friends who can pray over you physically, don’t lose hope. Online communities, like this blog, are a great place to start. - Persevere
Even when you don’t feel like praying, push through. Prayer isn’t about our feelings; it’s about faith and obedience.
Walking in Victory
Darling, let’s step into our authority as children of God. Let’s rebuke the enemy, declare God’s promises, and walk in the victory that’s already ours in Christ.
If you’re struggling, I encourage you to start small. Whisper a prayer today. Write down one Scripture that speaks to your situation. Watch War Room or listen to a powerful prayer online. And know that you’re not alone.
Let’s pray together:
“Father God, thank You for giving us authority through Jesus Christ. Teach us to use that authority and to trust in Your power. Strengthen those who feel weak, comfort those who are hurting, and remind us that we are never alone. Help us to fight our battles through prayer, knowing You are always with us. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”
Let’s take up the weapon of prayer and see how God works in our lives!
I hope you’re feeling just a little bit more empowered to step into your authority as God’s child. It’s easy to forget in the hustle of life that we’ve been entrusted with a power that can move mountains, calm storms, and change the course of events. No matter what you’re facing today, remember: God’s promises are never far from you, and when you pray with authority, things happen. It may not always feel instant, but trust me, your prayers have a ripple effect.
Now, as I hear the sound of toy cars zooming across the floor (I swear, my daughter has a formula for maximum noise production), I’m reminded that life is always moving, and always busy. But with each moment we take to pray, we’re aligning ourselves with God’s will, and we’re stepping into the role He’s designed for us. So, even with the distractions, the mess, and the never-ending to-do lists, don’t forget the power that lies within you. Go ahead, pray big, pray boldly, and don’t ever doubt that your prayers are making a difference.
Alright, I’ve got to go rescue a dinosaur from the clutches of a stuffed bear (classic toddler drama, I know), but I’ll be back again soon. Until then, remember: you are a beloved child of God, and there’s nothing you can’t face with Him by your side. Take care, darling!
Sending blessings to you!
