Hello darling,
Welcome back to the blog! ✨
Have you ever had a moment where something simple takes you back to a memory so sweet and vivid that it feels like stepping into a time machine? That’s exactly what happened to me today while I was cooking. I decided to make a peach crumble, a dessert I had not made in years! As I pulled the ingredients together and the smell of warm peaches and buttery crumble filled the kitchen, it stirred up memories from my childhood that made my heart smile.
When I was little, we had a cooking apple tree in our garden, and my sister and I would spend some Saturday afternoons picking apples for my mum. She’d turn them into the most delicious apple pie. Or there were those late summer days when my sister and I would go blackberry picking together, staining our hands and clothes with the deep purple juice, then sprinkling sugar on the berries to snack on them fresh. Those moments, so simple and ordinary at the time, have become some of my most cherished memories.
Now, as a mother, I find myself in a similar season, one of crafting little moments that, God willing, will become the foundation of sweet memories for my daughter. Whether it’s baking together, reading her favourite stories, or just spending time in the garden, I realise how precious these everyday moments truly are. It’s a beautiful reminder of the cycles of life and how God gives us opportunities to pass on love and joy in the most tangible ways.
Today, as the peach crumble baked in the oven, my daughter played nearby, occasionally peeking in to see if it was ready yet. Watching her little face light up when she finally got to taste it reminded me how much joy there is in sharing what we create with those we love. It’s these moments, filled with laughter, curiosity, and connection, that I hope she’ll one day look back on as I do my own childhood memories.
Life can get busy, and it’s easy to overlook these small, quiet moments. But today reminded me to slow down and treasure them because they’re the building blocks of a joyful life.
Have you ever had a moment that transported you back to a special memory from childhood? I’d love to hear about it! Let’s celebrate the little things that make life so meaningful.
Sending many blessings to you!
