Hello darling, welcome back to the blog! I’m so happy you’ve joined me today. I’m sitting here at the kitchen table, and it’s one of those chilly mornings where the smell of fresh coffee lingers in the air (even though I’m a tea girl myself, coffee’s for those extra busy days!). The sound of my daughter in the next room is comforting background noise, her little footsteps pattering around as she plays with her toys, probably creating some sort of imaginary world that I’ll never fully understand, but that’s the beauty of it, isn’t it? How children have the incredible ability to live in their peaceful reality.
I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that life can feel a little chaotic at times, whether it’s the juggling act of parenting, work deadlines, or the random task of finding lost socks (where do they all go?!). But in the middle of all that, I’ve been doing some thinking about a topic that’s so close to my heart: How do we start healing with God?
You see, in my own life, I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs. I’ve had moments when I felt completely overwhelmed by my struggles, whether from childhood wounds or the weight of life’s challenges. But the one constant in it all has been God’s presence, even when I didn’t know where to turn. And if you’re like me, sometimes the idea of healing seems like this far-off concept, something you read about but feel like you can never truly experience. I get it. It’s scary to let go of pain, especially when it’s been part of your story for so long. But I’m here to tell you, that God wants to heal us, and He’s just waiting for us to let Him into those broken spaces.
As I sip my tea, surrounded by the chaos and love of family life, I want to invite you to take a deep breath and join me in this conversation. Healing might not come overnight, but I believe it starts with a choice to trust God. As I share some personal insights from my journey, I hope that you’ll find encouragement, peace, and maybe even a little inspiration to take that first step toward healing yourself.
1. Acknowledge the Need for Healing
The first step in healing is acknowledging that you need it. Whether you’re struggling with addiction, pain from past relationships, emotional wounds, or unresolved trauma, God already knows what you’re facing. He sees your heart, your struggles, and your pain. And He wants to heal you. But you have to acknowledge that you can’t do it alone. Healing requires the willingness to surrender to God’s will. My healing came when I stopped trying to control everything and let God take the reins.
2. Surrender to God’s Will
One of the most powerful things you can do in your healing journey is to surrender. Surrendering means trusting that God’s plans are better than our own. It means letting go of the need to control and allowing God to work in your life, even when it feels uncomfortable or uncertain.
It was only after I surrendered my life to God that I began to experience true peace and healing. It wasn’t until I placed my trust in Jesus that I found lasting freedom. When you surrender, you open the door for God’s healing power to enter your life.
3. Trust God’s Timing
Healing doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s important to understand that God’s timing is perfect. He will heal you when the time is right, but you must trust that He knows what’s best for you. There will be moments of pain, grief, and frustration. You might feel like things aren’t changing, but remember that God is always working behind the scenes, even when you can’t see it. Trust Him in the waiting.
I’ve had my own seasons of deep grief and struggle, but I’ve learned that in those times, God was shaping me. He was healing me slowly, layer by layer. Just like how a sculptor chisels away at a block of marble to reveal the masterpiece within, God is chiselling away at our hearts, making us more like Him.
4. Seek God Through Prayer and His Word
Prayer is an essential part of the healing process. When you speak to God in prayer, you invite Him into your healing journey. Prayer is where you can pour out your heart, express your pain, and receive His peace. The Bible is full of promises of healing, comfort, and restoration. God’s Word is alive and active, and it holds the power to heal your heart.
A passage that has always spoken to me in my journey is Psalm 34:18, which says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” This verse reminds me that even in my lowest moments, God is right there with me, offering His love and healing.
5. Allow God to Heal Your Inner Child
Part of healing is addressing the wounds from our past. For many of us, these wounds stem from childhood experiences that shaped who we are today. But the beautiful thing is, that Jesus doesn’t just heal our adult wounds—He heals the wounds we carry from our past.
When I started walking with Jesus, He led me through a process of healing from my past. He showed me how certain childhood experiences had influenced my choices and behaviours. It wasn’t easy—there was a lot of crying, grieving, and facing painful truths. But God was reparenting me, healing my inner child, and restoring broken relationships.
6. The Process: It’s Beautiful and Painful
Healing isn’t always pretty. It’s a process, and it can be hard. There will be days when you feel like giving up, when the pain seems unbearable, and when you question whether it’s worth it. But I promise you, it is. As you walk with God through this process, He will change your pain into something beautiful. He will turn your mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11).
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cried, how many times I’ve felt like I was back at square one, only to find that God was doing something new in me. The pain you feel today is preparing you for the person God is calling you to become. The journey might be hard, but it’s beautiful because it’s leading you to healing.
7. Surround Yourself with a Supportive Community
No healing journey is meant to be walked alone. Surround yourself with people who will encourage you, pray with you, and hold you accountable. A supportive Christian community can be a source of strength and encouragement as you go through the ups and downs of healing. Church, friends, or even online communities can offer you the fellowship and love you need to keep moving forward.
8. Remember – You Are Loved and Worthy of Healing
One of the most powerful truths you can embrace on your healing journey is that you are loved by God. No matter what you’ve been through, no matter how broken you feel, God loves you just as you are. He sees your worth, and He is committed to healing you. Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things together for our good. Your healing is part of His plan for you.
Let God heal you. Let Him change your heart, mind, and soul. Your healing journey will not always be easy, but it will be worth it. Trust in Him, take it one step at a time, and remember that with God, all things are possible.
I can’t help but feel a sense of peace now, thinking about everything we’ve discussed. Healing is such a big, beautiful thing, isn’t it? And I know that for many of us, the idea of starting a journey toward healing can feel a bit daunting. But trust me, I’ve been there. And if you take one thing from this post today, I hope it’s that God’s love for you is unconditional and unchanging. He’s not waiting for you to be perfect or “put together” to heal you. He’s already there, with open arms, ready to help you begin, just as He’s helped me along the way.
I think about my journey with God, the times when I felt overwhelmed by the weight of my past, and I’m in awe of how gentle He’s been in guiding me toward restoration. It wasn’t a sudden, instant change (oh, how I wish it were sometimes!), but a slow unfolding of God’s grace in my life. And it’s that same grace He offers to you. Whether you’re facing big life challenges or simply trying to heal from past hurts, God’s presence is enough.
At this very moment, as I type the final lines of this post, my daughter’s laughter fills the room. There’s nothing like hearing her giggle and knowing that in this very season of life, God’s teaching me what it means to let go and trust Him. Even in the messiness of life, He’s there, in the small moments and the big ones, holding us together.
So, as you move forward in your healing journey, know that you’re not alone. You’re deeply loved by the Creator, and He’s waiting to walk with you every step of the way. And if you’re ever feeling unsure or lost, I’m just here, sipping my tea, in the middle of the daily hustle with my daughter, sharing this life with you. I’m praying for you, and I can’t wait to see how God continues to work in your life.
Take care, my darling, and remember that God’s healing hand is always near.
Sending blessings to you!
