Hello darling, welcome back to the blog!

There’s something special about the stillness of early mornings in my little home a kind of magic that only exists before the day fully wakes up. I’m sitting at the dining table, wrapped in my comfiest cardigan, with a steaming mug of tea in my hands. Not just any tea, mind you, strong, black, and brewed to perfection, the way tea should be. Outside, the rain is falling in that soft, rhythmic way we British are all too familiar with, gently tapping against the windows as if asking to be let in. The room smells faintly of toast (yes, I burned the first slice), and there’s a peaceful hum in the air. It’s one of those rare moments when the world feels quieter, and calmer, like it’s giving me the space to pause and reflect.

These moments have become precious to me. They’re a chance to catch my breath and let my thoughts settle—a kind of mental reset before the day pulls me in a thousand directions. Lately, my thoughts have been circling around something deeply personal: the renewal of the mind. Not the fluffy kind of renewal that’s about mindfulness apps and lighting candles (though I’m all for a bit of ambience), but the real, kind of change that only God can work in us. The kind of change where Romans 12:2 rings true: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”

Now, let’s be honest—renewal doesn’t come easy. Life is noisy and demanding. One moment, I’m trying to focus on Scripture and the next, I’m spiralling into a mental list of groceries I forgot to buy or wondering if the washing machine is leaking (again). Yet, even in the chaos, God has been gently reminding me that renewal isn’t about perfection—it’s about surrender. It’s about letting Him meet us in the mess, take our anxious thoughts, and replace them with His unshakeable truth.

So, whether you’re in the thick of a busy season or just feeling a bit stuck in your thinking, grab your tea (or coffee, if you’re feeling rebellious), settle into your favourite spot, and let’s have a heart-to-heart. I’ll share my own messy, imperfect journey of how God has been reshaping my mind and heart, one small step at a time. Together, we’ll explore what it means to lean into the Word and discover the beauty He brings, even on the most ordinary of days.

Understanding the Power of Renewing Your Mind

The idea of “renewing your mind” isn’t just about changing a few negative thoughts here and there; it’s a complete overhaul. It’s about changing the way we see ourselves, the world, and God’s will for our lives. It’s about choosing to align our thoughts with the truth of God’s Word, rather than the lies we’ve been told by society or our own inner struggles.

When I started to really focus on God’s promises, something incredible began to happen. I noticed that my thoughts started to shift. Where I used to focus on my inadequacies and fears, I began to see the strength and peace that come from God. Instead of looking at my problems through the lens of fear and doubt, I started to see them through the lens of God’s love. I realised that I am not defined by my struggles or mistakes, but by who I am in Christ.

The Role of Scripture in Transformation

One of the most powerful tools in renewing my mind has been the Bible. The Word of God is alive, and it has the power to transform our thoughts and actions. Every time I read the Bible, it feels like a spiritual reset, reminding me of God’s truth, His promises, and His love for me. Scriptures like Philippians 4:13—”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me“—have been anchors in times when I’ve felt weak or overwhelmed.

And I don’t just read the Bible as a set of rules or a list of do’s and don’ts. I read it as a love letter from God, meant to guide and encourage me. Each verse is an invitation to draw closer to Him, to trust in His perfect plan, and to rest in His promises.

The Battle for Our Minds

It’s important to recognise that the battle for our hearts and minds is real. The enemy works tirelessly to sow seeds of doubt, fear, and confusion. He wants us to believe that we are unworthy of God’s love or that we cannot change. But the Bible reminds us that we are more than conquerors through Christ (Romans 8:37). We are not fighting this battle alone. God equips us with His Word and His Spirit to overcome the lies and the negativity that surrounds us.

The Importance of Obedience and Sacrifice

As I’ve been renewing my mind, I’ve also been learning the importance of obedience and sacrifice. This isn’t always easy, obedience can sometimes mean letting go of things I hold onto, like bad habits or unhealthy relationships. Sacrifice often means choosing God’s way over my own desires. But in those moments of surrender, I’ve experienced deeper intimacy with God and a sense of peace that surpasses understanding.

In my journey, I’ve learned that the more I align my life with God’s Word and follow His leading, the more my mind is transformed. This transformation isn’t just for my benefit; it’s for His glory. The process of renewing my mind is about becoming more like Christ—living out the love, peace, and joy that He has promised to those who trust in Him.

Living Out the Renewal

A renewed mind isn’t just about thinking differently; it’s about living differently. It’s about making decisions that reflect the heart of God, showing kindness and patience to others, and walking in His truth with boldness. As I’ve allowed God to renew my mind, I’ve found myself more compassionate, more hopeful, and more confident in my identity in Christ.

I’ve also seen how powerful it is to have a community of believers around me. When I’m struggling, it’s so encouraging to have friends who remind me of God’s truth, pray for me, and walk with me through tough times. I’ve learned that we are not meant to walk this journey alone. We need each other, and together we can grow stronger in our faith.

A Call to Renewal

If you’re struggling with old thought patterns or feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges, I want to encourage you to start the process of renewing your mind. It starts with taking God’s Word seriously, reading it, meditating on it, and applying it to your life. It’s a daily commitment to let go of the world’s ways and embrace God’s truth. The process is not always easy, but it is always worth it.

Remember that God is with you every step of the way. He is faithful to complete the good work He has started in you. Allow Him to improve your mind, and watch as He improves your life.

The journey of renewing my mind has been life-changing, and I know it’s just the beginning. I’m excited to continue this journey, trusting that God will continue to guide me, heal me, and change me into the person He has called me to be. If you’re on this journey too, know that you are not alone. Together, we can experience the fullness of life that God has for us.

I’d love to hear how God is working in your life as you renew your mind. What scriptures have been loving? How has God’s Word changed your thinking and actions? Let’s encourage one another.

And just like that, the kettle’s whistling again, another round of tea brewing as I sit back and reflect on all that’s been stirring in my heart lately. The rain has stopped, and I can see a few rays of sunshine creeping through the clouds (thank you, God, for small mercies). It’s funny how much can change in a day—or even just a few quiet moments—when you let God into your thoughts. I’ll be honest: some days are harder than others. Some days, I still feel like my brain is playing tug-of-war between the truth of who God says I am and the lies I’ve been fed over the years. But you know what? That’s okay. The process is the point, not perfection.

It’s a lot like tidying my home (because yes, that’s a real struggle too)—some parts are organised, others are still a bit of a mess, but you just keep at it. One step at a time. The mind renewal journey isn’t quick. It’s messy, it’s challenging, but it’s one of the most important things we can commit to. If you’re on this journey with me—wrestling with old habits, old thoughts, old wounds—I want to encourage you to stick with it. Don’t rush the process. God is at work in ways you can’t even see yet.

So, here’s to another cup of tea, another moment of surrender, and another step toward becoming more like Him. We’ve got this, darling. And if not, there’s always another biscuit and a good talk with God.

Sending blessings to you!

Scherise. X
