Hello, my darling,
Welcome back to the blog. I’m curled up here in the snug corner of our living room, wrapped in a soft, oversized blanket, as golden candlelight flickers across the room, casting gentle shadows over the treasured things that line our fireplace shelf. Outside, the world is quiet, with only the soft patter of rain against the windows, filling the space with comforting sounds. I’ve got my favourite cup of tea warming my hands, and the soft scent of vanilla and cinnamon lingers in the air, filling our home with a sense of cosiness and calm.
As I sit here, in this little moment of peace, I’m filled with gratitude for the warmth of our home and the small, simple moments that make it a special place for my family. As a wife, mother, and woman of faith, I feel this deep calling to not just care for our home but to make it a place of spiritual refuge and love. Over time, I’ve come to love the role of creating a space where God’s presence is felt in every corner, a place where my family feels protected, cherished, and uplifted.
In every room, I often say a quiet prayer. At the front door, I pray for protection as each of us steps out into the world and for peace to greet us when we come back. In our bedroom, I ask for rest and renewal, and for it to remain a sacred space for my husband and me, honouring both our marriage and our faith. In my daughter’s rooms, I pray that she feels safe and joyful, and always knows how deeply she is loved.
Even in the everyday chores, I find moments to pray and give thanks. Folding tiny socks and washing dishes have become reminders of all the ways God has blessed us. The clothes represent growth, the meals we prepare bring nourishment and connection, and even the cleaning has become an act of love, creating a warm, welcoming space for my family.
Prayer has become a constant thing I do, not out of ritual but from a deep love for the life God has given us. Whether I’m lighting a candle or simply sitting here in the soft morning quiet, I feel His presence, comforting and steady, reminding me that His love is woven into every part of our home. And I know that even in the mess, in the busy days and sleepless nights, His grace is there, filling the rooms with warmth, peace, and strength.
As I take it all in, I’m filled with gratitude for these small yet lovely moments that affirm our calling as wives, mothers, and women of faith. Each of us holds a unique spiritual role, serving as guardians of our homes not only as caretakers but also as spiritual gatekeepers. We are called to protect, nurture, and lift up our families in prayer and faith. This understanding didn’t come overnight; for a long time, I brushed aside the idea of spiritual warfare. But as my faith grew, so did my awareness of the unseen battles we face not just physical or emotional, but deeply spiritual. The enemy knows the impact we have on those around us, and I have come to realise the strength of prayer in these spaces.
Through every chore, and every small act of love, I’m reminded that even the most mundane moments can become sacred. Preparing meals, folding clothes, cleaning up spills—all these can be moments to invite God’s peace into our home. Prayer isn’t powerful because of any special words or ritual, but because of God’s faithfulness. He is present, whether I’m praying over each space, or simply sitting quietly in the early hours of the morning.
We may sometimes feel weary, imperfect, or even unworthy, but God’s love meets us right there in the messes, in the midnight prayers, in the laughter of our children, and in the gentle, quiet spaces. It is His love that fills our homes with warmth and His grace that sustains us.
Let’s cherish this calling not out of duty, but out of love for the One who has entrusted us with this precious role. Whether you’re a mum, a wife, or simply praying for a future home, let’s stand together as women of faith, building homes where God’s love is the foundation and His presence is always welcome.
Sending blessings and encouragement your way. 💛
