Hello, darling, and welcome back to the blog!

It’s late evening in my home, and the day has finally started to settle into the kind of stillness I’ve grown to treasure. My daughter is tucked into bed, her soft curls spread out on her pillow like a tiny halo. The sound of her steady breathing drifts faintly through the baby monitor, and it fills me with such peace, a reminder that these moments are fleeting and oh-so-precious.

I’m sitting here on the sofa with my favourite cup of chamomile tea, the kind that claims to calm your nerves but really just tastes like flowers. The fairy lights I strung up a while back are casting a soft glow, and the slight hum of the dishwasher in the kitchen is my only soundtrack. It’s the perfect setting for winding down, yet here I am, staring out at the sky, mind racing faster than the evening train at Liverpool Street.

You know the feeling, don’t you? That quiet time you’ve been looking forward to all day finally arrives, and instead of relaxing, your brain flips through everything you’ve done, or haven’t done. “Did I confirm that meeting? What’s on the calendar tomorrow? Did I leave the chicken out to defrost?” Oh, the glamour of adulthood.

For a while, I let those racing thoughts take over. I’d scroll through my phone, flicking aimlessly between apps, or lie awake, mentally rehashing conversations I had weeks ago. But over time, I discovered a better way to reclaim those moments of stillness: prayer. Not just a hurried “thanks, God” as my head hits the pillow, but a real, meaningful pause to breathe, let go, and lean into His peace. And, darling, let me tell you, it’s improved the way I end my day.

Why Praying Before Bed Is So Powerful

I know how tempting it is to scroll through your phone or just collapse into bed after a long day. But what I’ve found is that when I skip prayer, my mind races, and I’m left feeling restless. God invites us to come to Him in all moments, and there’s no better time than at the end of the day when we’re ready to lay down and surrender.

Psalm 4:8 reminds me of the peace that God offers us: “In peace, I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” This verse is such a comfort to me. I used to lie in bed worrying about things that I had no control over, tomorrow’s challenges, past mistakes, or even things that just didn’t matter. But when I pray, I remind myself that God is in control. I don’t have to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders, especially when I’m about to go to sleep. That’s what prayer does—it helps me give my worries to God, trust in His plan, and find peace before I close my eyes.

A Bedtime Prayer That Will Help You Fall Asleep Blessed

Tonight, I want to share with you a simple but beautiful prayer you can pray before bed. It’s something that’s helped me, and I believe it will bless your sleep as well. You don’t need to have it all figured out to pray; you just need to come to God with an open heart. This prayer is a reminder that you don’t have to carry your burdens alone and that God is always with you.

“Heavenly Father, thank You for today. Thank You for Your grace, Your mercy, and Your constant presence. As I lay down to sleep tonight, I invite Your peace into my heart and my mind. I surrender all my worries to you. I ask that You help me to trust in Your plan, even when things don’t make sense. Please calm my thoughts and fill me with Your perfect peace, the kind that surpasses all understanding. I trust that You will take care of everything I can’t control. Lord, please protect me and my loved ones through the night and renew my strength for tomorrow. Thank You for Your love and Your provision. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

I don’t know about you, but when I pray this, I feel like I’m leaving my concerns in God’s hands. It’s a reminder that while I sleep, He’s still at work in my life, and that gives me peace. Sometimes, I find myself drifting into sleep even before I finish the prayer, and that’s a sign to me that I’ve truly surrendered my worries.

The Peace of Letting Go

It’s so easy to let our minds run wild with worries before bed. It might be something big, like a work deadline or a family concern, or even something small, like worrying if I’ll remember to set the alarm for tomorrow. But I’ve learned that those worries are not my responsibility to carry. God already knows what tomorrow holds, and He’s promised to never leave me or forsake me.

In Philippians 4:6-7, we’re encouraged not to be anxious but to bring everything to God in prayer. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

That’s what prayer does: it guards our hearts and minds. I don’t know about you, but that’s exactly what I need after a long, busy day. I want my heart to be at peace, and my mind to rest, free from the constant thoughts.

Praying for a Peaceful Night’s Sleep

If you’re reading this and feeling a bit overwhelmed, or if your mind just won’t shut off, I want to encourage you to take a deep breath and pray. You don’t need to have it all figured out or say the perfect words, God knows your heart. But by praying, you’re permitting yourself to rest. You’re acknowledging that, while you might not have control over everything, God does, and He is more than capable of handling it all.

I pray that tonight, as you close your eyes, you’ll feel the peace of God wrapping around you like a warm blanket. I pray that whatever you’re facing, you’ll feel His presence and His love and that He will give you restful, restorative sleep. And if you wake up in the middle of the night, maybe a little anxious or restless, just remember that you can pray again. God is always there, always ready to listen, and He’ll be with you every step of the way.

So, let’s take that moment tonight, no matter how tired we are, to pray. Let’s surrender our worries, and sleep knowing that He’s got everything in His hands. You deserve a peaceful night’s rest, and I believe that with prayer, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed and blessed for the day ahead.

As I sit here now, the tea is long gone, the fairy lights are starting to dim, and the dishwasher has clicked off into silence. The house is perfectly still, save for the occasional creak of the radiator, and I feel grounded in a way that no to-do list could ever accomplish.

My daughter is safe and sound, her tiny hand clutching her tiny teddy, and I’m reminded again how prayer isn’t just a religious routine. It’s a lifeline, a reset button, a moment to give it all to God and trust Him with the rest.

So, when you find yourself lying in bed tonight, caught in the whirlwind of worries and what-ifs, take a pause. Before you reach for your phone or let the “what didn’t I finish today” spiral take over, just breathe. Whisper a prayer. It doesn’t have to be perfect or polished, God knows your heart.

As you close your eyes, imagine wrapping yourself in the peace He offers, like the cosiest blanket on a chilly night. Trust that while you sleep, He’s still at work, orchestrating everything for your good. And if you find yourself waking in the night, rest assured He’s still there, listening, loving, and leading you.

Goodnight, darling.

P.S. If you’re anything like me, you’ll need to remind yourself not to scroll through your phone after you pray (I know, it’s tempting). But trust me, resting in God’s peace is far better than anything you’ll find online at 11 p.m.!

Sending blessings to you!
Scherise. X
