Hello darling,

Welcome back to the blog! Today, as I was baking a peach crumble, a dessert I hadn’t made in years, I found myself thinking about the rhythm of life and how certain seasons bring clarity and joy in unexpected ways. While stirring the crumble mixture, I thought about how this season of life feels a lot like baking: it starts with faith in the process, even before you see the final result.

This moment reminded me of childhood afternoons spent picking apples with my sister or gathering blackberries to eat with sugar sprinkled on top. Back then, the sweetness of those moments came naturally. But as an adult, I’ve learned that joy isn’t always automatic, it often follows a decision to trust and believe, even when the feelings aren’t there right away.

Have you ever found yourself longing for that same kind of sweetness in your walk with God? That fire, that passion, that clarity? I’ve been there too. But through scripture and life’s experiences, I’ve discovered something that’s changed my perspective: feelings don’t lead the way—faith does.

Often, we get caught up in our emotions, especially when it comes to our relationship with God. We think that once we feel close to God, then we’ll have the strength and confidence to stand firm in His truth. But what I’ve learned through scripture is that it’s actually the opposite. The feeling, the warmth, the peace, the fire is the byproduct, not the starting point. It comes after we stand firm on God’s truth with faith.

1. Fact – Standing on God’s Truth

The foundation of everything is the fact that God is good, His promises are true, and His word is unchanging. It doesn’t matter what our circumstances look like or how we feel in the moment, God’s truth remains the same. I remind myself daily that my feelings don’t dictate my reality. Instead, God’s word is the ultimate truth. When life gets tough and I’m faced with challenges, it’s His truth that I stand on.

2. Faith – Believing in His Promises

Once we’ve grounded ourselves in the fact of who God is, the next step is faith. Faith isn’t about seeing the outcome; it’s about trusting in God even when we don’t understand or when it feels like He’s silent. Faith means taking that step forward, even when the path ahead is unclear. This is where we choose to believe in God’s goodness, even when things don’t feel so good. I’ve learned to lean into my faith in these moments, believing that God is always working, even if I can’t see it.

3. Feeling – The Byproduct of God’s Presence

When we prioritise truth and faith, something amazing happens, and the feelings follow. You’ll start to feel the peace that surpasses understanding, even in the midst of a storm. You’ll feel the joy and fire you’ve been searching for, but it won’t be based on your circumstances. It will come from the presence of Jesus. That feeling isn’t the driving force; it’s the result of aligning our hearts with His will and standing firm on His promises.

This order—Fact, Faith, Feeling—has been a game-changer for me. When I stop waiting for the emotional “fire” to show up before I act on my faith, I find that my feelings are more consistent and grounded in God’s truth.

So, the next time you’re feeling disconnected or distant from God, don’t chase the feeling. Instead, start by standing firm on His word. Remind yourself of the truths you know: God is faithful, He loves you, and He’s with you every step of the way. Then, choose to trust in those truths, even if it feels hard. As you do, the feelings will follow.

As I wrap up this blog post, I want to leave you with this thought: The beauty of our walk with God is not found in the rush to feel something, but in the steady trust that He is always working, even in the quiet moments. Just like with my peach crumble, sometimes the joy comes when we faithfully follow the process, and the sweetness shows up when we least expect it. So, whether you’re in a season of waiting or one of growth, remember: that feelings follow faith. Stand firm in God’s truth, believe in His promises, and watch how He moves in your life.

Thank you for being here and sharing this space with me today. If you’ve been encouraged or want to share your own journey, feel free to reach out. Until next time, may His peace fill your heart and His presence guide your steps.

Sending blessings to you!
