Hello darling! 🤍
Welcome back to the blog. Right now, I’m curled up on my sofa, feeling so relaxed as my little girl sleeping in her cot. The heater is on, making the room nice and toasty, and I’ve just made myself a warm drink that I call vanilla milk. It’s my go-to comfort drink, I simply mix a little milk with nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, and hot water, then top it off with two teaspoons of honey. It’s so simple, yet so lovely, and it’s the perfect way to wind down.
The stillness of this moment feels like such a blessing, and I can’t help but reflect on how God often meets us in these quiet spaces. Today, I want to talk about those challenging seasons when God begins to strip things away, preparing us for something greater. Have you ever wondered why certain doors close or why you feel like you’re in a season of waiting? These moments of pruning can feel hard, but they’re part of His beautiful plan to bring more fruit into your life. Let’s explore the three signs that God is pruning you and what that means for the incredible things He has in store for you. Have you ever found yourself in a season where everything you once held dear, relationships, financial stability, even your mindset, begins to slip away? You’re not alone. It’s in these moments, when it feels like everything is falling apart, that God might just be pruning you. Pruning is a process in which God removes what no longer serves you, to make room for what He has planned for your future. It’s a time of refinement, growth, and preparation for the MORE He has in store. If you’re in a season of pruning right now, here are three signs that God is preparing you for something greater.
1. You Are Experiencing Unforeseen Losses
Pruning often begins with loss. Whether it’s a relationship, a job, or something you once valued, when God prunes, He removes things that hinder your growth. These losses can feel overwhelming at first, but remember, God’s intention is not to hurt you. He’s clearing space for His purpose in your life.
I know this firsthand. In my own life, I’ve gone through periods where I lost things I thought I could never live without, relationships, money, and even aspects of my old self. It felt like everything was crumbling, but in hindsight, I see how God was orchestrating a deeper improve. I was being forced to depend solely on Him. And in that dependence, I learned the incredible truth: God provides. He shows up in ways we could never imagine. His plan is so much greater than anything we could ever design for ourselves.
Scripture to Reflect On:
“I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
When we experience loss during a pruning season, it’s a reminder that we need to stay connected to the Source, God. And when we do, we bear fruit in ways that we never thought possible.
2. You’re Being Forced to Let Go of Control
God often prunes us by challenging our need for control. When life feels uncertain and out of our hands, it’s tempting to try and fix things on our own. But in His pruning process, God wants us to release our grip and trust in His perfect timing. I’ve learned that surrendering my need to control is one of the hardest yet most freeing things I’ve ever done.
During my own pruning, I found myself in situations that forced me to stop relying on my own plans. Whether it was a job that fell through or a dream that didn’t materialise as I expected, God was teaching me to fully trust in His plan. He was shaping my character, helping me see that I don’t need to have all the answers because He’s the one who holds the future.
Scripture to Reflect On:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
In those moments of uncertainty, I’ve learned to lean on God’s promises. Even when I don’t know what’s next, He does. And that’s enough for me.
3. You’re Being Called to Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
Pruning often leads to discomfort. It’s when God challenges you to move beyond the familiar, to leave behind what feels safe and secure. For some, this might mean stepping out in faith to pursue a new calling or career. For others, it might involve letting go of unhealthy relationships or toxic habits.
I’ve experienced this firsthand in my own life. I’ve had to walk away from situations and relationships that no longer aligned with God’s purpose for me. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. God was calling me to step into something bigger, something that required more faith, more trust, and more dependence on Him.
Scripture to Reflect On:
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
When you step out in faith, even when it feels uncomfortable, remember that God has already begun a work in you. He’s faithful to see it through to completion. It’s all part of the pruning process, preparing you for the MORE He has for your life.
If you find yourself in a pruning season, know that God is not punishing you. He’s refining you. He’s making you more fruitful. It’s a painful process, but it’s necessary for your growth and His purpose. Trust that He’s preparing you for something far beyond what you could ever imagine. Keep trusting Him, stay faithful, and watch as He brings forth new life, new opportunities, and blessings in ways you could never have expected.
As you walk through your pruning season, remember these three signs: loss, letting go of control, and stepping out of your comfort zone. Trust in God’s timing and His process. He’s doing something incredible in you, and the best is yet to come.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the pruning process. Though it may be difficult, I trust that You are preparing me for something greater. Help me to surrender control, to let go of what no longer serves me, and to step out in faith. I trust that You are with me every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
