Hello darling,

Welcome back to the blog! Lately, I’ve been feeling a little off track with my usual Saturday morning blogging routine. It’s actually Thursday today, and it feels like the days have just been blending into one another. My daughter has been ill this week, so I’ve been fully immersed in mummy duties. It’s one of those weeks where everything feels a bit blurry, but today, I felt the motivation to get a little productive and share something that’s been in my heart.

As a mother, finding moments of rest amongst all the hustle can feel nearly impossible. But I’ve discovered that when I intentionally weave rest into my week, it improves my physical and spiritual well-being. Today, I want to share the 7-day routine I’ve developed to create space for rest, hopefully you find it helpful. It’s not about having a perfect schedule, it’s about creating a slower pace and inviting peace into the everyday busyness.

So before I share my routine I just want to mention my daughter attends nursery part-time—three half-days a week (Afternoon/evening), from Monday to Friday.

Monday: Work, Errands, and Home Organisation

Once my daughter heads to nursery, Monday is when I get into my work rhythm. I use her half-day at nursery to focus on blogging, podcasting, and hosting group study sessions. It’s a day where I can dive into tasks that require more attention without feeling guilty for not being with her.

Mondays are also my day for deep cleaning one room in the house. This keeps things manageable and avoids a huge cleaning load later in the week. I also take time to plan the meals and grocery list for the week, which brings a sense of order and helps me avoid stress later on.

Tuesday: Intentional Rest with My daughter

Tuesdays are for rest. My daughter does not attend nursery on tuesdays, I use this time to recharge. Whether it’s enjoying some quiet moments, reading, or simply having a dance party, this day is about restoring energy. I may take a walk, bring my daughter’s bike, and call one of my mum friends, to go to the park. Rest is a priority on Tuesdays, and I aim to let go of any pressure to “do” and instead focus on just being.

Wednesday: Spiritual Replenishment

By Wednesday, I often feel the need to nurture my spirit. I dedicate this day to spiritual replenishment—whether that’s diving into Scripture, (currently I am going through the book of daniel) praying, or listening to worship music. This time helps me reset for the rest of the week, grounding me in my faith. I also reach out for prayer or connect with a Bible study group if I need extra encouragement.

Thursday: My Rest Day – [SOLO]

Thursdays are my special day of rest. Since my daughter is at nursery, I treat this time as a break to focus entirely on myself. I usually don’t schedule meetings or tasks for the day. This is when I pamper myself, take time to rest, and simply enjoy being alone without any agenda. I tend to try new recipes on this day as well. It’s my favourite part of the week, as it gives me space to reconnect with myself.

Friday: Family Time and Restful Togetherness

Fridays are especially sweet. My daughter is at nursery for her half-day, and my husband typically works from home in the afternoon. This gives us the chance to spend quality time together. We might head to the gym, or just enjoy a quiet afternoon. It’s the perfect time to connect after a busy week, and I really look forward to our moments together.

Saturday: Prepare for the Week Ahead

Saturdays are for preparation. I spend this day organising the house, planning meals, and getting things in order for the upcoming week. This is my chance to reset and get everything ready before we enter into Sabbath rest.

Sunday: Sabbath Rest

Sundays are our family’s Sabbath, dedicated to rest and spiritual renewal. We unplug from work, avoid distractions. We might attend church, spend quality time with family, or simply rest. It’s time to pause, recharge, and reconnect with God and each other. I cherish these moments of rest, as they help me to reset and prepare my heart for the week ahead.

Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also be exhausting. Without intentional rest, burnout will happen. My 7-day rhythm of creating rest has helped me slow down and connect with God, my family, and myself in deeper ways. It’s not about perfection, it’s about finding pockets of peace and grace in the everyday moments.

Having my daughter attend nursery part-time, three half-days a week has been a huge help. It gives me a little breathing room and time to reset, alone. With that being said I also do rest with my daughter as well (check Tuesdays for further details). And with my husband working from home half day on Fridays, it allows us to connect and enjoy quality time together, which helps us both feel rejuvenated.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or burned out, I encourage you to find your own rhythm of rest. It may look different for you, but if you choose to be intentional, you can create space for rest to settle in your heart and home.

Thank you for reading. I pray that you too will experience the rest that only God can provide in your own journey of motherhood. 🌸

Sending blessings to you!

Scherise. X
