Hey Darling, 🤍
Welcome back to the blog! I want to talk about something close to my heart, living a life of faith, praying with purpose, and staying expectant as we wait for God’s promises to come through.
If you’ve been following my journey for a while, you know that I stepped away from my faith for a few years. There were a lot of reasons why, but I’m so grateful that I found my way back. Prayer was one of the hardest things for me during that time. It was supposed to be simple, right? But it just wasn’t for me. I couldn’t seem to find that connection. I didn’t know how to pray or what to say.
But over time, I realised prayer doesn’t need to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be long or complicated. It’s about talking to God like you would talk to a friend, even when it’s messy. You don’t need to have it all together. God can take all the confusion we feel and turn it into something beautiful. So today, I want to share what has helped me grow in my prayer life, and hopefully, it can help you too.
I want to take a moment to talk about something so near and dear to my heart, living a life of faith, praying with purpose, and staying expectant as we await the promises God has for us.
The truth is, sometimes life can feel like a struggle, and it’s easy to feel lost or discouraged. But I want to remind you that God is always working behind the scenes, even when we can’t see it. I have experienced this firsthand, and I know many of you have too. God’s timing is always perfect, and when we pray specifically, we can look back and see how He answered each prayer, sometimes in ways that completely blow our minds.
I want to share a few things that have helped me build and strengthen my faith over time.
The Power of Specific Prayers
One of the biggest things I’ve learned is how important it is to pray specific prayers. It’s easy to pray general prayers, like “God, bless me” or “God, help me,” but when you pray specifically, you begin to see God’s hand move in your life in a much more powerful way. When you pray specifically, you create space for God to show up and answer in a way that’s clear and undeniable.
A while ago, I prayed for a job, nothing too vague, but very specific. I knew exactly what I wanted: the role, the pay, the environment, and how it would align with my life purpose. And let me tell you, God came through in a way that I could never have imagined. Not only did I get the job I prayed for, but it was everything I had asked for and more.
Be Expectant
When we pray, we need to be expectant. God is a good Father, and He loves to bless His children. Sometimes, we forget to believe that He will give us what we ask for. We can get caught up in doubt and fear, but we need to remember that He is able and willing to answer our prayers. If you’ve been praying for something, whether it’s a job, a new home, or restoration in your relationships, trust that God has heard you. He is working in ways you may not yet see, but He is working nonetheless.
It reminds me of a friend who had prayed for a car. She wrote down exactly what she wanted, every detail, right down to the features she hoped for. Years later, she was gifted a car with everything on that list, She didn’t get it when she wanted, but she got it exactly when she needed it. That’s how God works. He gives us what we need, at just the right time, often in ways we don’t expect.
Prayers of Faith, Not Doubt
Another key point I want to emphasise is that we must pray with faith, not doubt. The Bible says in James 1:6, “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” When we pray, we need to pray like we already have it, believing that God is faithful to keep His promises. It’s easy to pray and then second-guess ourselves, but God calls us to trust in Him fully. When we do that, we can experience His peace, knowing that He will provide exactly what we need.
God Answers In His Timing
I’ve had my share of waiting seasons, but looking back, I can see that God’s timing was always perfect. Sometimes, I didn’t get what I prayed for right away, and at times I even doubted that I would receive it at all. But in every instance, God came through, often in ways that were far better than I could have imagined. And that’s the beauty of faith, when we wait on God, we can trust that His plans for us are better than anything we could plan for ourselves.
One of the most powerful testimonies I’ve seen is from someone who prayed for a new home. They wrote down every detail they wanted, including features like a fireplace, a spacious bathroom, and even a driveway. Years later, when they received the home, it was more than they could have ever imagined. Every detail on their list was checked off, God showed up and provided in ways that were mind-blowing.
Living With Expectation
Living a life of faith requires us to be expectant, knowing that God is going to show up in our lives. I encourage you to take time today to pray specific prayers, trusting that God is working on your behalf. He will answer you in ways that are beyond your wildest dreams. When we align our hearts with His, He will always come through.
So, if you’re waiting for something today, whether it’s a new job, a new home, healing, or even a new relationship, I want to encourage you to pray boldly and expectantly. Trust that God has heard your prayers, and believe that He is working on your behalf. He is a good Father, and He knows exactly what you need.
As you pray, know that God is not only hearing you, but He is also preparing you for what He has in store. Sometimes the waiting is part of the process, and it’s in those moments that our faith grows stronger. Stay expectant, because what’s coming is going to be amazing!
I’m praying for you all, and I believe that God is going to move in your life in powerful ways. Keep praying, keep believing, and keep expecting. God is faithful, and He is good.
God bless you all, and remember, His promises are always true! ✨
So, if you’re struggling with prayer or feeling like you don’t know where to start, just remember, you don’t have to make it complicated. God is with you, whether it’s a quick prayer in the morning or a little chat in the car. There’s no “right” way to pray. God just wants us to show up as we are.
I encourage you to start small, just like I did. You don’t need a long session or perfect words. Just take a moment to talk to Him, even if it’s only for a minute. And if you’re teaching your kids to pray, I’d love to know what those prayers are, or if there’s a special prayer that’s meaningful to you. I’m passing prayer down to my daughter, and I’m sure it’s something that can bring comfort to your little ones too.
Keep praying, keep believing, and keep expecting. God hears you, even when it feels like you’re just saying the same thing over and over. He is with you through it all.
Sending love and blessings your way,
Scherise . X
