Hey darling, welcome back to the blog!

This morning, I found myself sneaking a quiet moment at the dining table, the hum of the kettle filling the air as my daughter giggled in the other room with her dad. I had just five minutes before the day would fully sweep me away, five minutes to focus, to breathe, and to connect with God. And in those moments, as the rain tapped softly against the window, I felt the gentle pull of His presence, reminding me that even in the busyness of life, His word is an anchor.

Let’s be honest: life rarely slows down. Between family, work, and the endless to-do lists, finding time for a deep, soul-refreshing Bible study can feel like an impossible dream. But here’s the good news: it doesn’t have to be. With just five intentional minutes a day, you can build a routine that not only brings you closer to God but also changes the way you approach your day.

In this blog post, I’m sharing my personal 5-minute Bible study routine a simple, practical way to spend time in God’s word, even when life feels overwhelming. Whether you’re balancing family commitments, work deadlines, or just the unpredictability of everyday life, this routine is a game-changer. So grab your Bible, your favourite pen, and let’s talk about how to make those precious minutes count.

Quality Over Quantity

The truth is, it’s not about how much time you spend in the Word; it’s about the quality of the time you give to it. I’ve learned that spending even just five minutes with God can make a world of difference. It’s not about rushing through the Bible to check it off my list; it’s about being present in those moments, allowing His Word to shape my day.

In this busy season of life, I’ve learned to embrace moments when they come. Sometimes that’s first thing in the morning, other times it’s during nap time, and occasionally it’s late at night. My schedule is not predictable, so I’ve learned to fit my study time in whenever I can.

My Bible Study Routine

  1. Start with Prayer
I always start my Bible study time by praying. Even if it’s just a short prayer, I ask God to open my heart to whatever He wants to teach me that day. I ask for wisdom and clarity, so I can understand His Word and apply it to my life. Prayer sets the tone for my study time, helping me to focus my thoughts and invite God’s presence.
  2. Choose a Verse or Passage
I don’t always follow a set plan, but I make sure to pick a specific verse or passage to focus on. Whether it’s a verse that speaks to me that day, something I’ve been reflecting on, or part of a Bible reading plan, I try to keep it simple. If I have more time, I may dive deeper into a chapter, but even just reading one verse and reflecting on it can be powerful.
  3. Use a Study Resource
Sometimes, I like to consult a commentary or a Bible study resource to go a little deeper into the passage. I use resources like Enduring Word or Bible apps that provide insights and explanations. This helps me to understand the historical context or deeper meaning of a passage, making it more relevant to my life today.
  4. Write in My Journal
Journaling is a key part of my Bible study. Even if I don’t have much time, I jot down my thoughts or any insights I’ve gained from reading the Bible. Writing helps me to process what I’ve read and internalize it. I also like to write down prayers, requests, or praises to God as part of my study time. Sometimes, I just write one sentence about how a verse spoke to me, and that’s enough.
  5. End with Prayer
Before finishing up, I pray again, thanking God for the time spent in His Word. I ask Him to help me apply what I’ve learned and to stay mindful of His presence throughout the day. Even if it was only a few minutes, I believe that God honours our efforts to spend time with Him.

Making It Work in Busy Seasons

One of the challenges I’ve faced in my walk with God is finding consistency, especially when life gets busy. Whether I’m taking care of my family, handling work responsibilities, or managing other commitments, I can easily get distracted and forget to spend time in the Word. But I’ve learned that Bible study doesn’t have to be a long, uninterrupted session.

If you’re in a busy season like me, here’s what helps:

  • Flexibility – Don’t be hard on yourself if you can’t stick to a strict routine. God knows your heart, and He honours any time you give to Him, no matter how short.
  • Carry the Word with you – I love using Bible apps that I can access throughout the day. Whether it’s a quick verse while waiting in line or listening to the Bible during a commute, I try to find ways to stay connected to God’s Word in little pockets of time.
  • Start with what you have – Even five minutes can be transformative. It’s about making time for God, no matter how small the window.

What I’ve Learned

As I’ve made Bible study a part of my daily routine, even in short bursts, I’ve grown closer to God in ways I never expected. The beauty of spending time with Him, even in the most hectic seasons, is that He meets us where we are. His Word is living and active, and it works in our hearts and minds even when we don’t have long hours to dedicate to study.

This routine has helped me maintain a deep connection with God, and I’m continually reminded that quality time with Him is what matters most. It’s not about the length of time; it’s about the intentionality behind it.

If you’re struggling to find time for Bible study, I encourage you to try this five-minute routine. Start where you are, and trust that God will honour your efforts to draw near to Him.

We all go through busy seasons, but no matter how much time you have, God always makes room for us. So, take a deep breath, find a moment, and let God speak to you. Remember, even five minutes can make a difference. Stay consistent, even if it’s in small doses, and watch how God transforms your heart.

What does your Bible study routine look like? I’d love to hear how you make time for God in your life!

As I close my Bible and hear my daughter’s tiny feet padding into the kitchen, I’m reminded of how precious even the smallest moments with God can be. Those five minutes, though brief, have the power to refocus my heart, strengthen my faith, and prepare me for whatever lies ahead in the day.

If life feels chaotic and you’re struggling to find time to connect with God, remember this: it’s not about the length of time you spend, but the intention behind it. Start small, be consistent, and watch how God meets you right where you are, even in the busiest seasons.

I hope my routine inspires you to carve out your moments in the day. Let me know in the comments what your Bible study looks like or if you try this approach. And if this blog post has encouraged you, feel free to share it with someone who might need a little reminder that connecting with God doesn’t have to be complicated.

Now, time to tackle the rest of the day, preferably with a hot cup of tea and a lot of grace. 😊

Sending blessings to you!
