Hey darling, welcome back to the blog!
Wow, wow, wow, this blog today is something that is taking me a while, a good while, to start talking about these particular concepts. So, if you’ve been following my journey online for a while, you’ll know that a couple of years back, I was very into manifestation.
I tend to avoid using the word “new age” because I think when people say “new age,” it involves a few different concepts, like astrology, et cetera, a few different things. But for me, it was simply just manifestation, the law of attraction, manifestation vision boards, positive thinking, that was really it. And honestly, I actually got results from it.
That’s something that I think, as a Christian as well, I never really wanted to say because I couldn’t really put my finger on it. I couldn’t really understand it — how can a Christian also get results? Obviously, at the time, I wasn’t reading the Bible. I had come away from the lord because I was looking for healing in all the wrong places. I only came back when I decided to finally let go of everything and be obedient even when it felt so hard!(Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”)
Personally, for me, I realise that the reason why manifestation is quite easy to slip into, and the reason why a lot of it still works, is because some of it actually is biblical, but it’s taken out of context. So, like, thinking positively, that’s something we should be doing as Christians, but not in our own power. You know, there’s scripture around this. (Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right… think about such things.”)
I think all of us are flawed human beings, and I feel like quite a few flawed human beings have gone and taken biblical context, misinterpreted and bent it to their own use. They’ve used it to justify their actions or certain things in their own way. And essentially, that’s how we have certain concepts in our everyday world, like manifestation.
So for me, I felt like I got a couple of results from my vision board, but I just felt so empty. It didn’t matter how many materialistic things I got; I just felt emptier as time went on. (Ecclesiastes 5:10, “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.”)
There is so much more I can talk about, so many changes I made, but yeah, I guess this is one of the very first deep dives into this concept, and I wanted to talk about it because it’s probably about time, to be honest.
Yeah, it’s quite a hard one to discuss and talk about, but I’m glad, to be fair, I’m finally doing it on the blog.
I think manifestation, in the last couple of years, has blown up to be massive. I think posts like this, people need to understand what it really is, and the truth of it. I think it’s important to share that with other people, too.
So I’m just trying to do that, do my duty and share the truth of it, hope this helps other people as well.
The Deception in Manifestation
When I was involved in manifestation, I thought I had found something powerful, a way to bring my desires to life. It seemed to work, and in many ways, it did work. But over time, I realised something unsettling: manifestation takes certain truths from God’s Word and pulls them out of context. It borrows principles from the Bible, adds in half-truths, and then repackages them in a way that seems appealing but ultimately leaves you empty. Why? Because it’s only using a tiny fragment of God’s truth, while ignoring the full picture. When we focus on just one isolated concept, like “visualising” or “speaking things into existence”, without acknowledging God as the source and purpose, we end up chasing a shadow of the real thing. It’s like eating crumbs when you could have the whole feast.
Why It Still ‘Works’ — and Why That’s Dangerous
Manifestation and vision boards can work because they’re tapping into principles God Himself created, like focus, sowing and reaping, and the power of words. But when those principles are divorced from the full truth of God’s Word, they become distorted. Yes, you might achieve a goal. Yes, you might see a dream come to pass. But instead of leading you closer to God, it often leads you further away, because you start believing you’re the ultimate source of your success. That’s why people often feel an emptiness even after “manifesting” what they wanted, they’ve built their hope on a foundation that can’t truly satisfy.
Learning to Filter the World Through God’s Word
When I first became a Christian, I mean really stepped into my faith, I avoided almost everything that wasn’t overtly Christian. No podcasts, no books, no content unless the creator was openly Christian. The reason was simple: I didn’t want to risk slipping back into old ways of thinking. I was terrified of being influenced again by “empowerment” messages that had nothing to do with Christ. Over time, I realised the problem wasn’t in hearing other voices, the real danger was in not having the discernment to filter them through the truth of Scripture.
Building a Strong Foundation First
You don’t need decades of Bible study before you can discern well, but you do need a solid foundation. Once you’ve spent time in God’s Word and understand the basics of His truth, you’re able to “test the spirits” like the Bible instructs us to (1 John 4:1). With that foundation, you can:
- Listen to different viewpoints.
- Enjoy books or talks from people who may not share your faith.
- Recognise instantly when something contradicts God’s Word.
This doesn’t mean you’ll agree with everything you hear, but you’ll have the ability to separate what’s good from what’s not, like a filter that automatically catches impurities.
Discernment in Everyday Life
Discernment isn’t just for spiritual teaching; it applies to everything we consume: TV shows, books, social media, music, and even casual conversations. Sometimes the right choice is to walk away completely from certain content because it’s too far removed from the truth. Other times, you might read or watch something and use it as an opportunity to reflect, compare it to Scripture, and deepen your understanding. For example, I’ve read books where only a small part was worth keeping, but that one part, when aligned with God’s Word, became a powerful insight I could use.
It’s Not About Hiding, It’s About Being Anchored
As Christians, we’re not called to completely separate from the world in a physical sense, we’re called to live in it but not be of it (John 17:15-16). That means you can enjoy entertainment, art, and ideas from the culture around you, but your heart remains anchored in truth. The key is this:
- You’re not passively absorbing everything.
- You’re actively weighing it against the Word of God.
When you train yourself to do this, you can be in the world without fear of being swept away by it.
Thats all I have to say on this topic for now… but I may add more soon.
Share it with those you feel it may help.
Sending blessings your way!
