Hello Darling,

I’m so glad you’re here! I’m curled up on chair in my office, sipping my favourite warm drink—a mix of milk, warm water, a pinch of cinnamon and vanilla, and a couple of teaspoons of honey. It’s the perfect wind-down drink, especially with the rain outside. My daugther is nearby, stacking blocks and chattering to herself, giving me just enough quiet to share a few thoughts with you. There’s a to-do list waiting for me, laundry, a quick grocery run, but right now, it’s just us.

Today, I wanted to talk about fear and anxiety, something I think most of us know all too well. It’s so easy to get stuck in those feelings, isn’t it? I’ve been there too, feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what’s next. But I’ve found that God’s Word offers real comfort and practical ways to manage those feelings. So let’s sit together for a bit and talk about how we can handle fear in a way that brings us genuine peace and hope.

1. Humble Yourself Before God

The first step in overcoming fear is to humble yourself before God. It’s so easy to get caught up in our own abilities or try to handle everything on our own, but when fear and anxiety hit, we often find ourselves at a loss. The Bible reminds us in 1 Peter 5:6 that we should “humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”

When we humble ourselves before God, we acknowledge that we need His help. We let go of the burden of trying to control everything and trust in Him. We recognise that He is bigger than any fear we face and that He is always with us, ready to guide us.

2. The Power of Prayer

One of the most comforting things about being a Christian is knowing we can turn to God in prayer. Prayer is not just a way to ask for help, but a powerful tool to build our relationship with God and find peace. In Philippians 4:6-7, we are reminded to “do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

When you’re feeling anxious, take time to pray. Pour your heart out to God. Tell Him about your fears and your worries. But also remember to thank Him for His faithfulness and His love. As you pray, you’ll experience His peace, which surpasses all understanding. It’s in those quiet moments of connection with God that fear starts to lose its grip on our hearts.

3. Focus on God, Not on Fear

Fear thrives on our focus. When we allow ourselves to dwell on what might happen, our thoughts become consumed with anxiety and worry. However, the Bible encourages us to fix our eyes on God, not on our circumstances. In Isaiah 26:3, God promises “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.”

In times of fear, we can choose to turn our focus away from the “what ifs” and instead place our attention on God’s character. He is faithful, loving, and strong. When we choose to focus on who God is, His peace fills us, and our fears begin to shrink in comparison.

4. Meditate on Scripture

The Bible is full of verses that remind us of God’s power, His love, and His promises. Meditating on Scripture is a powerful way to combat fear and anxiety. In Psalm 34:4 it says, “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”

When we meditate on verses like this, we remind ourselves that God is in control. He is faithful to deliver us from our fears, and His Word is a powerful weapon against the lies and doubts that fear often brings. Write down Scripture that speaks to your heart, carry it with you, and read it whenever anxiety creeps in. God’s Word is not just a comfort; it is a sword that helps us fight back against fear.

5. Trust God’s Plan for Your Life

Finally, it’s essential to trust in God’s plan for your life. Sometimes, fear comes from the unknown, not knowing what will happen next or how things will turn out. But as Christians, we are reminded that God has a plan for us, and that plan is always good.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Trust that God’s plan is better than anything we could imagine, and even when things are unclear, we can have confidence that He is working everything for our good.

Fear and anxiety are a part of life, but they don’t have to control us. As we humble ourselves, pray, focus on God, meditate on His Word, and trust in His plan, we can find peace in His presence. Remember, you don’t have to fight fear alone. God is with you, and He will never leave you. His perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18), and His peace is available to all who seek Him.

If you’re struggling with fear and anxiety, know that God sees you, He hears your prayers, and He is more than able to give you peace. I encourage you to turn to Him today, cast your cares upon Him, and let His peace guard your heart and mind.

God bless you, and may you walk in the freedom and peace He offers!

Sending blessings your way!
