Welcome back to the blog! There’s something extraordinary about coming home to a place that feels like heaven on earth, a safe place of peace, love, and joy. Home isn’t just about walls and furniture; it’s a space where we’re constantly shaping, moulding, and creating the atmosphere. The process takes intentionality, patience, and a heart anchored in faith. Here’s how I’m learning to create my home into a little slice of heaven and how you can too.
Conviction and Growth
First and foremost, making your home heavenly begins with spiritual housekeeping. It’s an ongoing journey where we invite God into our hearts to cleanse and renew us. I’ve had moments where I felt overwhelmed by conviction, realising areas where I could be a better wife, parent, or friend. Conviction is a powerful gift, reminding us that God cares about our growth. As it says in Proverbs, “Iron sharpens iron.” We’re being refined, each day, to reflect Him more clearly in how we love and serve our family.
A Heart Reset
Sometimes, I need to stop, reflect, and truly repent for the times I’ve let my words, attitudes, or frustrations get the best of me. Creating a peaceful home means choosing love, patience, and gentleness even when it’s hard. If we slip, we don’t wallow in guilt. Instead, we turn to God for strength, allowing His grace to help us make better choices tomorrow. The enemy might want us to see our roles as burdens, but God uses them into our greatest joy.
Creating a Spiritually Rooted Home
A home that feels like heaven is one that’s spiritually grounded. For me, that means regularly studying God’s Word and praying for His wisdom. Sometimes, I struggle with letting my fear of judgment or people-pleasing hold me back from speaking the truth, even within my home. But I’ve come to understand that it’s not about being “liked”, it’s about serving the Lord. When we plant seeds of faith in our home, they’ll grow, even in the smallest hearts around us.
Finding Joy in Homemaking
Being a homemaker can be a fulfilling calling, a true ministry. I’ve found peace in learning to enjoy the little things like cooking meals, organising, or simply tidying up with love. Each task, no matter how routine, can be an act of worship when done with a joyful heart.
Of course, homemaking isn’t always easy. I’ve had days when it feels like an endless cycle, but God is teaching me that hard doesn’t mean bad. With Him, the hard tasks help us grow in virtue and patience. As we decrease, He increases within us, filling our homes with His peace and presence.
Guarding the Atmosphere of Your Home
One of the most critical aspects of creating a heavenly home is being mindful of what we let in. Whether it’s entertainment, conversations, or even our own thoughts, we need to protect the atmosphere. For me, this means filtering out negative influences and focusing on what’s pure, lovely, and true. We may not always get it right, but setting boundaries and being prayerful about what enters our home can be wonderful.
Finding Strength in Community
It’s comforting to know we’re not alone in this journey. Sharing my struggles with other believers has reminded me of God’s faithfulness. We all stumble, but God is with us, giving us the strength to get up and try again. He never abandons us. Just as we extend grace to others, we must also extend it to ourselves.
A Prayer for Your Home
