Hello, darling 🌸

I just finished a little prayer, a plate of scrambled eggs, and a cup of coffee. Now I am feeling grateful and so happy to sit down and share today’s blog post with you!

Today I wanted to talk about something we all face as women, self-doubt and comparison. It’s easy to feel our worth slip into a scale that measures against someone else’s highlight reel, whether in how we look, what we achieve, or the relationships we see around us. But here’s the truth that I feel led to remind you of today: our true, unshakable confidence as Christians isn’t rooted in fleeting validation from others. It’s anchored in who we are in Christ.

So, grab a cup of something warm, settle in, and let’s talk about some powerful Biblical truths and practical steps that have helped me break free from insecurities, quiet the comparisons, and stand firm in Godly confidence.

1. Root Your Identity in Christ

The first step in building Godly confidence is understanding where your identity truly lies. As daughters of God, our worth is not determined by our appearance, accomplishments, or the approval of others, it is found in who we are as His beloved children. In 1 Peter 2:9, we are reminded that we are a “chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession.” When we align our identity with God’s truth about us, we stop looking for validation from the world and begin to see ourselves as God sees us.

2. Memorise Scripture to Fight Lies

One of the most powerful ways to combat insecurity is by filling our minds with the truth of God’s Word. Memorising Scripture helps us to reject the lies the enemy tries to plant in our hearts and minds. For instance, when you feel like you’re not enough, remember Philippians 4:13, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” When feelings of comparison arise, remind yourself of Psalm 139:14, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” The more we meditate on God’s truth, the stronger our Godly confidence becomes.

3. Create a Truth Mirror

A “truth mirror” is a concept I love. It’s a simple tool to remind yourself of who you are in Christ when insecurities creep in. You can make a list of Scripture verses, positive affirmations, and truths that affirm your worth and who you are as God’s creation. For example, write out affirmations like “I am loved by God,” “I am worthy of love and respect,” and “God has a purpose for my life.” Place these truths where you can see them daily, such as on your bathroom mirror, so that you can remind yourself of your identity in Christ every day.

4. Develop Healthy Self-Talk

How we talk to ourselves matters. Negative self-talk feeds insecurities and keeps us stuck in comparison. If you catch yourself thinking things like, “I’m not good enough,” or “I’ll never measure up,” counter those thoughts with God’s truth. In Romans 12:2, we are encouraged to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Speak life over yourself. Instead of saying, “I can’t do this,” say, “I can do all things through Christ.” Your words have power, and choosing to speak God’s truth is key to building confidence.

5. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Comparison truly is the thief of joy. When we look at others and wish we had what they have, whether it’s their looks, their success, or their relationships, we rob ourselves of peace and contentment. Galatians 6:4-5 reminds us, “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.” cherish your unique journey, knowing that God has a specific plan and purpose for your life that is different from anyone else’s.

6. Focus on Faithfulness Over Perfection

It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that we need to be perfect in everything we do. But God values faithfulness over perfection. In 1 Corinthians 4:2, Paul reminds us that “it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” Instead of striving for flawless performance, focus on being faithful to God in the small, everyday things. Trust that He will equip you for the tasks ahead, and rest in His grace when you fall short. Building Godly confidence means trusting in God’s strength, not your own.

7. Build a Godfidence List

I love the idea of a “Godfidence list” — a list of qualities and strengths that you know are a reflection of God’s work in your life. This might include attributes like kindness, patience, creativity, or leadership. Reflect on the unique gifts God has given you, and celebrate those. When we recognise the good things God has placed inside of us, we can walk confidently in our calling, knowing that He has equipped us for the work He has set before us.

8. God’s Timing

The road to building confidence in Christ isn’t always easy or quick, but trust that God is with you every step of the way. Trust the process and don’t rush it. God is always working in us, shaping us, and preparing us for the future He has planned. Psalm 27:14 encourages us to “wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Trust in His timing and know that He is using every moment to mold you into the person He created you to be.

9. Practice Self-Care That Honours God

Taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional health is important for building Godly confidence. Eat well, exercise, get enough sleep, and engage in activities that replenish you. But remember, self-care isn’t just about physical well-being, it’s also about spiritual nourishment. Spend time in prayer, worship, and Bible study. When we are filled with God’s peace and joy, it naturally spills over into every area of our lives.

10. Surround Yourself with a Supportive Community

Community is vital for building confidence in Christ. Surround yourself with people who encourage you to grow in your faith and who remind you of your worth in Christ. Find a group of like-minded believers who will lift you up and help you stay grounded in God’s truth. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Together, we can become stronger in our confidence and grow deeper in our relationship with God.

Building Godly confidence is a journey, but it’s one that is worth every step. As we grow in our relationship with Christ, and start to see ourselves as He sees us, beautiful, loved, and capable. Stop comparing yourself to others, fight insecurities with God’s Word, and cherish your identity as a daughter of the King. Your confidence will naturally grow as you walk in the truth of who you are in Christ. Remember, you are enough, just as you are. God made you uniquely, and His love for you never changes.

What has helped you in your life to build Godly confidence? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments below! Let’s encourage one another as we continue to walk in the truth of who God says we are. 💖

Sending blessings your way!
