Hello Darling,

Welcome back to the blog! I’m so glad you’re here! I’ve currently sitting in my office with a cup of turmeric tea, which is an old favourite I thought I’d make today. If you’d like to make it, here’s the simple recipe I follow:

Turmeric Tea Recipe:

  • 1 cup of milk (or any milk alternative)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • A pinch of black pepper (this helps with turmeric absorption)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • A tiny dash of vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey to taste

Instructions:

  1. Warm the milk in a small pot over medium heat until it’s just about to simmer.
  2. Stir in the turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, and vanilla extract, if using. Whisk everything together until well combined.
  3. Let it heat for a few more minutes, then remove from the stove.
  4. Stir in the honey

It’s such a soothing drink.

With my tea next to me and my daugther nearby, happily stacking blocks, I would like to talk with you about something special, Sabbath. Taking a day to pause and reconnect with God has been so meaningful. I’d love to share how I make this time feel truly special.

Lets start with the basics…

What is Sabbath?

Sabbath is a day set apart for rest, worship, and reflection, as commanded by God. In the Bible, Sabbath is a reminder of God’s creation and His invitation to rest. It is a day to step away from our work and busy schedules to focus on Him. While some Christians have Sabbath on saturdays, I follow the tradition of having it on sunday.

How I Prepare for Sabbath

Preparation for the Sabbath starts the evening before. On saturday night, I take some time to prepare my heart and my home. I make sure my house is tidy, so I can enjoy the day without worrying about chores. I also prepare meals ahead of time, making sure that I don’t have to cook or clean on Sabbath itself. I believe that part of honouring the Sabbath is avoiding work, including cooking and cleaning, so I make sure everything is ready beforehand.

As the day ends on saturday, I light a candle and say a prayer, inviting God into the Sabbath and thanking Him for the opportunity to rest. This simple ritual helps me transition from the busyness of the week to the peace of Sabbath.

A Day for Worship and Reflection

Sabbath is first and foremost a day of worship. I spend the morning reading my Bible, reflecting on God’s Word, and journaling my prayers. My prayer journal is an essential part of this time, it helps me stay focused and intentional in my relationship with God.

In addition to personal Bible reading, I enjoy listening to worship music. I find that worshipping through music lifts my spirits and brings me closer to God.

Rest and Recharging

While Sabbath is a time for spiritual growth, it’s also a time to rest physically and emotionally. I prioritise sleep on this day, allowing myself to wake up naturally without an alarm clock. It’s a reminder that God wants us to rest our bodies and minds, just as He rested on the seventh day after creating the world.

I also avoid unnecessary distractions. This means disconnecting from social media and limiting screen time. I find that without the constant pull of notifications, I am able to be more present in the moment and listen more to God’s voice.

Spending Time with Loved Ones

Another important aspect of Sabbath is spending quality time with loved ones. Whether it’s family, friends, or even just my own thoughts, Sabbath is a great opportunity to create meaningful connections. I may take a walk with my daughter and husband, have a meal with friends, or simply enjoy quiet moments with my family. For me, Sabbath is a balance of solo time and community, time alone with God and time shared with others.

How Sabbath Changed Me

Sabbath has been amazing for me. It’s not just a break from work; it’s a spiritual practice that deepens my relationship with God. By setting aside time to rest, pray, and reflect, I allow God to renew my spirit for the week ahead. It helps me recalibrate and reset, ensuring that my focus remains on what truly matters.

I’ve found that when I keep Sabbath, I am more energised, more centred, and more at peace throughout the week. It’s not always easy to step away from the demands of life, but I’ve learned that this time with God is vital for my well-being.

A Special Day to Honour God

Sabbath is more than just a day off, it’s an invitation from God to rest in His presence and honour Him with our time. For me, it’s a beautiful reminder of God’s care, and love. It’s a time to focus solely on Him, to reflect on His goodness, and to recharge for the days ahead.

As I continue to practice Sabbath, I find that I am growing in my faith and learning to prioritise God over the distractions of daily life. It’s a practice that brings peace, rest, and renewal to my soul. If you’re looking to create your own Sabbath practice, I encourage you to take small steps towards creating a day that honours God and refreshes your spirit. You’ll find that it’s a gift that benefits not only your body but also your soul.

Let me know how you do Sabbath in your life, I’d love to hear about your practices and any tips you have for making this day special!

Sending blessings your way!
