Hello, my darling!

Welcome back to the blog! If you’re anything like me, life can get a bit… busy. Between the never-ending laundry, work emails piling up, and the daily chaos of family life, it feels like there’s always something pulling at your attention. And let’s be honest, when you’re in the thick of it all, prayer sometimes feels like a luxury, right? Trust me, I get it.

But here’s the thing, in the middle of the madness, I’ve been feeling a gentle nudge from God, calling me back to prayer. And if you’re here reading this, I’m guessing He might be calling you too. You see, life has a funny way of distracting us, and in the hustle and bustle, prayer can slip down the priority list. But when you take a step back, you realize just how essential it really is to your peace, your clarity, and your relationship with God.

Now, between homeschooling (because yes, I decided to start💗), running my own business, and the usual mum duties, it’s easy to tell myself, “I’ll pray later.” But later? It never seems to come. That’s why I wanted to write this post and share some practical ways to make time for prayer, no matter how busy life gets. God is always there, waiting, ready to meet us—sometimes we just need to make the time.

So, grab a cup of tea, sit back, and let’s talk about how we can make space for prayer in our everyday lives, even when it feels like we don’t have a second to spare.

1. Recognise the Importance of Prayer

Prayer is not just a ritual or a checklist item; it’s the foundation of our relationship with God. Just as we need regular communication in any relationship, we need to communicate with God. Prayer is how we connect with Him, seek guidance, find peace, and receive His strength. In the chaos of life, prayer brings clarity, peace, and purpose. If you’ve neglected prayer, God is calling you back, not in condemnation, but with open arms, waiting to restore that closeness.

2. Set Aside Dedicated Time

The key to making time for prayer is to set it aside intentionally. Life will always be busy, and if we wait for the “perfect time,” we might never get around to it. Instead, choose a specific time in your day when you can consistently pray. Whether it’s early in the morning before the world wakes up or at night before you go to bed, make that time sacred. Setting an alarm or reminder can help, especially when life gets overwhelming.

For some, it may even mean waking up a little earlier to make space for quiet reflection and prayer. You might find that this small change can transform the way you start your day. The Bible tells us in Mark 1:35, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Jesus Himself made time to pray.

3. Start Small and Be Consistent

You don’t have to pray for hours at a time to experience the power of prayer. Start with a few minutes each day, focusing on God’s goodness, expressing your gratitude, and seeking His guidance. The more consistent you are, the more your prayer time will become a natural part of your daily rhythm. Don’t feel discouraged if you can’t dedicate a long period initially; what matters most is that you show up every day, even if it’s just for a short moment.

4. Create a Space

Creating a designated space for prayer can also be helpful in maintaining focus and intentionality. This could be a quiet corner in your home, a prayer closet, or even a peaceful spot outdoors. The idea is to find a place where you can connect with God without distractions. As you step into this space, allow it to remind you that you’re entering into a conversation with your Creator.

5. Incorporate Prayer Throughout Your Day

Sometimes, life is so busy that it’s hard to set aside uninterrupted time. If that’s your situation, don’t worry,  prayer can still be woven into your day. Turn your thoughts and actions into prayers as you go about your day. When you’re driving, ask God to guide you. When you’re doing chores, offer a prayer of gratitude. Throughout your day, remind yourself that God is with you, and invite Him into every moment. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 reminds us to “pray without ceasing,” meaning we can stay connected to God throughout our daily tasks.

6. Be Honest with God

One of the most beautiful aspects of prayer is that you can be honest with God. You don’t have to have everything figured out or have the perfect words to say. God knows your heart. If you’ve been distant from Him, tell Him. Share your struggles, your joys, and your worries. He wants to hear from you, and He is always ready to listen. When you’re real with God, you open the door for a deeper relationship.

7. Seek Accountability

Sometimes, it can be difficult to maintain consistency in prayer on our own. Having someone to hold you accountable can be a great way to stay on track. Consider finding a prayer partner, whether it’s a friend, a family member, or someone from your church. Pray together, share your prayer needs, and encourage each other to stay committed to spending time with God.

8. Trust in God’s Grace

If you’ve fallen short in your prayer life or let distractions take over, know that God’s grace is sufficient. There’s no need to feel condemned or ashamed. God is full of mercy and compassion, always ready to welcome you back with open arms. His love for you doesn’t depend on your perfect performance but on His unchanging goodness. Remember, it’s never too late to start again.

Making time for prayer in a busy season is not always easy, but it’s so worth it. Prayer is the lifeline that connects us to God, and no matter how far we’ve drifted, He is always calling us back. As you step back into prayer, know that God misses you and longs for your presence. Don’t let the distractions of life keep you from the peace that only prayer can bring.

It’s not always easy, especially when you’ve got a thousand things on your plate, and let’s face it, prayer can sometimes feel like the thing we’ll do when everything else is sorted. But here’s the reality: when we make space for God, He has this amazing way of making everything else fall into place.

Behind the scenes in my own life, I’ve had to get a bit creative with my prayer time. Sometimes it’s while I’m folding laundry (yes, I’ve even prayed over my socks!) or in the quiet moments while the daughter is having a nap. Other times it’s just before bed when I feel the need to centre myself after a long day. But it’s in these moments that I feel God’s peace wash over me, and I know I’ve made the right choice to reconnect. It’s not about quantity or how much time you spend, but about making that intentional space to talk to God, no matter how hectic things get.

So, if you’re reading this today and thinking, “How on earth do I find time to pray in all of this?” – just know that you’re not alone. The struggle is real. But God isn’t about perfection; He’s about presence. Even if it’s just a quick “Hey, God, I need You right now,” He’s right there with you, listening.

Sending you peace and blessings!
