Welcome back to the blog! It’s one of those mornings where the air feels crisp but not too cold, and I’ve got a cup of English tea sitting next to me. I’ve been in a reflective mood lately, thinking about the little things that make up this season of life. You know, things like planning meals for the week, squeezing in some exercise (even when I don’t feel like it), and scrolling through way too many online shopping tabs for that “perfect” item I may or may not need.

Life’s been feeling busy but full lately, and through it all, one thought keeps coming back to me: am I truly walking in obedience to what God’s been placing on my heart? Sometimes, it’s easy to let the noise of life, whether it’s work, family, or even just my own doubts, push those quiet callings aside. But today, I want to unpack that with you. Let’s talk about stepping out in faith and saying “yes” to God, even when it’s not easy.

How many times have you felt that tug in your spirit to do something, start a business, write a book, launch a ministry, or simply encourage someone, but talked yourself out of it?

The truth is, that the longer we sit on the dreams God has given us, the more room we give the enemy to plant seeds of fear, doubt, and procrastination. The enemy doesn’t need to physically stop us; he just needs us to delay long enough to abandon the vision. That’s why I’m here to tell you: it’s time to get started.

God’s Timing, Not Ours

We often talk about “waiting on God,” and while waiting for His guidance is important, sometimes we confuse waiting with hesitation. There’s a difference between waiting for God’s confirmation and allowing fear to paralyze us.

Ecclesiastes 11:4 speaks directly to this:
“Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.”

How many of us are “watching the clouds,” waiting for the “perfect time” to start? The truth is, the perfect time doesn’t exist. If we trust God to guide us, we have to trust Him to make things work even when the circumstances aren’t ideal.

Overcoming the Lies of the Enemy

When God gives us an assignment, the enemy immediately goes to work. He whispers lies like:

• “You’re not qualified.”
• “You’re too late.”
• “No one will care.”
• “What if you fail?”

But here’s the thing: the enemy only attacks what threatens him. If you’re feeling resistance, take it as confirmation that you’re stepping into something powerful. God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.

Look at Moses. When God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses was full of excuses. He said he wasn’t eloquent enough, that the people wouldn’t listen to him, and even asked God to send someone else. But God assured Moses, “I will help you speak and will teach you what to say” (Exodus 4:12).

If God can use Moses a man who doubted his abilities to free a nation, imagine what He can do through you!

Your Obedience is Worship

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that our obedience is an act of worship. When we say “yes” to God, we’re acknowledging His authority and trusting His plan over our own.

Think about the story of Mary at the wedding in Cana. When they ran out of wine, she simply told the servants, “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5). Her faith and obedience set the stage for Jesus’ first miracle.

What miracle might God be waiting to perform in your life, if only you would take the first step?

Letting Go of Perfection

As a recovering perfectionist, I used to think everything had to be flawless before I could act. I’d spend hours planning, tweaking, and overthinking, only to end up doing nothing. But God doesn’t need our perfection, He needs our willingness.

The less credit we take, the more glory goes to Him. It’s not about our abilities but about His power working through us. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Testimonies of Faith

I’ve heard so many incredible stories of people who stepped out in faith despite their doubts.

One sister shared how God called her to open a beauty store, but she had no money to rent a space. She trusted Him anyway, and miraculously, a shop owner offered her a space with no upfront cost. She was able to pay the rent later, and now her business is thriving.

Another testimony came from a woman writing her autobiography to glorify God. She felt unqualified and unsure, but as she prayed and trusted the Holy Spirit, He guided her through every chapter.

These stories remind us that when God calls, He also provides.

Dealing with Delays

Let’s be real: sometimes we delay out of fear, and sometimes life genuinely gets in the way. But here’s the good news, God is a Restorer. Even if you feel like you’ve wasted time, He can redeem it.

A brother shared a dream he had about time moving slower than it should, but then suddenly being corrected. It was a reminder that even when we delay, God can speed up His plans to align with His purpose. Joel 2:25 says, “I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.”

So, if you’ve been procrastinating, repent, refocus, and trust that God can make up for lost time.

Practical Steps to Get Started

1. Pray for Clarity: Ask God to confirm what He’s calling you to do. Spend time in His Word and listen for His guidance.
2. Start Small: You don’t need to have everything figured out. Take the first step, and trust God with the rest.
3. Surround Yourself with Encouragement: Share your vision with trusted, faith-filled people who will pray for you and hold you accountable.
4. Move Despite Fear: Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s acting in faith despite it. Remember, God goes before you.
5. Celebrate Progress: Every small step of obedience is a victory. Give God the glory for every milestone.

The Importance of Discernment

It’s essential to discern whether we’re truly waiting on God or simply procrastinating. There’s a difference between seeking His timing and letting fear paralyze us. Pray for wisdom to know the difference. As James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

God has placed something unique inside you, a dream, a purpose, a calling that only you can fulfil. Don’t let fear or doubt rob you of the joy and impact that comes from walking in obedience.

Remember, you don’t have to have it all figured out. Just take the first step and trust God to guide you. As Psalm 37:23 reminds us, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the dreams and callings You’ve placed in our hearts. Help us to overcome fear and doubt, and give us the courage to step out in faith. Guide our steps, provide for our needs, and let everything we do bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
