Hello, my darling!
Welcome back to the blog! I hope you’re feeling as cosy as I am right now, with my little family buzzing around, bringing joy and chaos in equal measure. But let me tell you, there’s one thing I’ve been learning lately that has made all the difference in keeping that sense of calm and balance: walking in trust, even when my feelings try to take the reins.
If you’re anything like me, sometimes it feels like my emotions can be a bit of a rollercoaster, up one minute, down the next. It’s easy to let our feelings dictate the direction of our day, our decisions, and our lives, isn’t it? But I’ve realised that when I lean too heavily on my emotions, I can end up in a bit of a tangle. That’s when I remembered the importance of walking by faith, not by feelings.
Trusting God, even when our emotions are all over the place, has become one of the most important lessons in my life. And I want to share with you how this has been playing out in my world recently. Because, let’s be honest, life isn’t always smooth sailing, but when we choose faith over feelings, everything begins to shift. So, grab a cup of tea (or whatever makes you feel settled) and let’s talk about this important reminder to walk in trust, no matter what our hearts may be whispering.
Emotions Are Not Our Compass
Emotions are great indicators, they help us understand what’s going on in our hearts and minds. But they should never be our compass. Emotions are like the weather: sometimes sunny, sometimes stormy. If we allow them to dictate how we live, we’ll always be tossed around by our circumstances.
In those moments when we don’t “feel” God’s presence, it’s important to remind ourselves that faith is not based on our feelings. God’s truth doesn’t change, regardless of what we’re feeling. Even if we’re experiencing emotional turmoil, God’s word remains a solid foundation. We are called to walk by faith, not by sight or by how we feel. Faith is about trusting in what we know, not what we feel in the moment.
Walking With God in Discipline, Not Emotion
One thing I’ve learned is that when we live by our emotions, we often lack discipline. Without discipline, we lack structure and accountability, which is essential for our spiritual growth. If we allow our feelings to dictate our choices, we can easily fall into temptation and sin. However, when we choose to walk by faith and in the discipline of God’s word, we can go through any storm that comes our way.
In our walk with Christ, we must deny our flesh and the deceptive emotions that try to pull us away from Him. It’s in those moments when we feel lost, fearful, or uncertain that our faith is tested. But here’s the good news: faith pleases God. Even when you don’t feel it, declaring His truth over your life will always lead to spiritual growth. That’s when we truly learn the power of standing firm on God’s word.
Trusting God Beyond Our Feelings
There are times in life when our feelings may tell us that we should be afraid or that we can’t trust God. In those moments, it’s vital to remind ourselves that fear doesn’t come from God. His word tells us that He will never leave us or forsake us, no matter what we’re going through. Trusting in God’s character and His promises means choosing to stand firm, even when our feelings try to lead us astray.
We can’t rely on how we feel to determine God’s faithfulness. If we do, we’ll find ourselves on a rollercoaster of emotional highs and lows. Instead, we need to build our lives on the truth of God’s word and choose to walk by faith, not by emotion.
A Call to Step Into Greater Faith
I believe that God is calling us to a deeper level of faith one that is beyond our feelings and is rooted in His unchanging truth. If we want to grow spiritually and experience the fullness of God’s promises, we must stop allowing our feelings to drive us. We have to make a choice to trust God, even when we don’t feel it.
Faith is the foundation of our spiritual lives, and it’s what moves God. When we declare truth over our circumstances, we align ourselves with God’s will, and that’s where improvement happens. Don’t wait for your feelings to catch up. Stand firm on what you know about God’s goodness, and trust that He is working on your behalf, even when you can’t see it.
So, the next time you find yourself in a situation where your emotions are trying to take over, remember: that faith is greater than feelings. Choose to trust God, and watch as He moves in your life in ways you never imagined.
It’s not always easy to stay grounded when emotions are running wild, but I can tell you from experience, that there’s peace in choosing faith over feelings. Trusting God is like planting a seed, sometimes you don’t see the growth right away, but over time, you can rest in knowing that He’s at work in your heart.
Behind the scenes, things aren’t always as perfect as they may seem. Between managing the family, the hustle of life, and those moments when my emotions feel like they’re throwing a tantrum, I know the importance of reminding myself to walk by faith. It’s not about feeling calm 24/7—it’s about trusting God, even in the chaos. And trust me, that’s when the real peace comes.
So, if you find yourself wrestling with your feelings today, I encourage you to remember this: Faith is stronger than our fleeting emotions. It’s the steady anchor that keeps us grounded. I pray that as you go about your day, you’ll find the strength to walk by faith, trusting that God is right there with you, guiding your steps. The path may not always be clear, but with faith, it’s always worth it.
Sending blessings to you!
