Hello, darling, and welcome back to the blog!

As I sit here, sipping my favourite Earl Grey, I can’t help but reflect on how life has a habit of throwing all sorts of little curveballs our way. Just last week, I found myself running around like a madwoman trying to manage work, my daughter’s latest set of unpredictable moods, and the never-ending pile of laundry. It often feels like there’s simply no room to breathe, doesn’t it? But here’s something I’ve realised: there’s a subtle force at work behind the scenes, one that’s quite determined to stir up chaos in our lives.

I’ve had a good think about it, and I’ve come to understand that it’s not just the everyday stresses that get to us – there’s an enemy working tirelessly to try and rob us of our peace and our purpose. Whether it’s a stray thought of doubt or a nagging fear, it’s easy to be blindsided by the quiet little attacks that go unnoticed in the hustle of our daily routines. The good news, however, is that you’re far more equipped to fight back than you might realise. So, grab a cup of tea and let’s talk about how we can stand firm, fight back, and protect the peace that’s been promised to us.

The Battle for Your Mind

The Bible tells us that we are in a spiritual battle, not against flesh and blood, but against powers (Ephesians 6:12). One of the enemy’s main tactics is to fill our minds with lies and doubts. He loves to plant seeds of insecurity, fear, and anxiety. He will make you feel like you’re not good enough or that you’re not worthy of God’s love. But what the devil doesn’t want you to know is that you are a child of God, and you have authority over the enemy’s lies.

In 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, the Apostle Paul reminds us that “the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

The key here is that we have the power to take captive every thought. This means that we don’t have to let negative thoughts roam free in our minds. We can choose to reject them and replace them with the truth of God’s Word.

The Enemy’s Strategy

When the enemy attacks your mind, he will often use your past to torment you. He will remind you of mistakes, failures, or regrets, making you feel unworthy of God’s love or purpose. He will also exploit your insecurities, amplifying your fears and anxieties until they seem too much. The enemy will often speak in whispers, saying things like:

  • “You’re not strong enough.”
  • “You’re never going to overcome this.”
  • “You’re all alone in this struggle.”

But let me tell you, these are lies. The devil’s goal is to weaken your faith, but God has already won the victory through Jesus Christ. The enemy knows he’s defeated, so his only strategy is to try and deceive you into thinking otherwise.

When you recognise these attacks as lies, you can begin to fight back with the truth of God’s Word. The Word of God is alive and active, it is a weapon against the enemy’s schemes.

How to Fight Back

So how do you fight back? The first step is to fill your mind with Scripture. God’s Word is powerful and sharper than any sword. It’s a spiritual weapon that can cut through the lies of the enemy. When you feel overwhelmed by negative thoughts or emotions, speak out the promises of God over your life.

Here are a few Scriptures you can use to fight back:

  • Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
  • Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
  • 2 Timothy 1:7: “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.”
  • Romans 8:37: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

Whenever the enemy tries to fill your mind with lies, you can counter those lies with the truth. Scripture tells us that the truth will set you free (John 8:32). When you declare God’s promises over your life, you are reminding yourself of who you are in Christ and the power that you have in Him.

Standing Firm in Faith

It’s also crucial to stand firm in your faith. The enemy wants you to doubt God’s goodness and His promises. But when you choose to trust in God’s Word, you’re choosing to stand firm in the face of challenges.

In Ephesians 6:13, Paul encourages us to put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, we can stand firm. This armour includes:

  • The belt of truth (knowing and speaking God’s truth),
  • The breastplate of righteousness (living in a way that honours God),
  • The shield of faith (trusting in God’s promises),
  • The helmet of salvation (reminding ourselves of our secure identity in Christ),
  • The sword of the Spirit (God’s Word, our weapon).

With this armour, we can fight back against the enemy’s attacks and stand strong in the face of spiritual warfare.

Practical Steps for Overcoming Strongholds

  • Identify the Strongholds: Pay attention to the negative thought patterns that seem to take over your mind. Are they rooted in fear, insecurity, shame, or guilt? Recognizing them is the first step toward overcoming them.
  • Replace Lies with Truth: When a negative thought enters your mind, replace it with the truth of God’s Word. For example, if you hear the lie, “You’ll never be good enough,” replace it with, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
  • Pray and Declare God’s Promises: Don’t just think the Word, speak it out loud! There’s power in declaring God’s truth over your life.
  • Guard Your Mind: Be mindful of what you allow to influence your thoughts—whether it’s media, conversations, or even your own self-talk. Fill your mind with positive, godly things that align with His truth.

Remember, you are not alone in this battle. The Lord is with you, and His Word is powerful enough to tear down every stronghold the enemy tries to build in your mind. When you stand firm in your faith and fight back with Scripture, you will see the victory. So, the next time you feel like your mind is under attack, remember: you don’t have to accept those negative thoughts as your reality. You have the power to take captive every thought and align it with the word. Fight back with His Word, and watch those strongholds crumble.

You are more than a conqueror in Christ! Stay strong and keep pressing forward.

I hope this blog post encourages you to stand firm in your faith and fight back against the enemy’s attacks. If you’ve been encouraged by this message, please share it with someone who may be struggling today!

Life might throw its challenges at us, but with God’s Word, the power of prayer, and the Holy Spirit on our side, we’re more than capable of facing whatever comes our way.

I’ve found that some of the biggest breakthroughs have come during those quiet moments when I’ve finally realised that I don’t need to carry it all. Just last week, after a particularly overwhelming day, I had to remind myself: I don’t have to shoulder these burdens on my own. I don’t need to be consumed by fear. I simply need to hand it over. And trust me, it’s made all the difference.

So, my darling, as you step into this week, remember that the enemy wants nothing more than for you to forget just how equipped you are. But you’ve got the tools, the support, and the divine backing to overcome anything that tries to stand in your way. The next time you feel those doubts creep in, take a deep breath, stand tall, and declare God’s truth over your circumstances.

I’m here, cheering you on, praying for you, and believing in the strength already within you.

Until next time, stay strong, and always remember: you’ve already won.

Sending blessings to you!
Scherise. X
