Hello Darling,
Welcome back to the blog! I hope this message finds you well. Today, I want to talk about discovering purpose through faith and trust in God. It’s a question so many of us wrestle with: “Why am I here, and what am I meant to do?”
This morning, while I walked to the park with my daughter, I found myself thinking about this topic. Watching my daughter explore the world with such curiosity reminded me how God invites us to trust Him with a childlike faith. As a mother, these quiet moments remind me to pause and cherish life’s purpose, even in the simple joys.
With a hot cup of tea in hand (a staple for me!), I’ve been brainstorming this blog post.
I’ve been on my own journey of understanding God’s plan for my life. At times, it’s felt confusing, uncertain, and even overwhelming. But over the years, through prayer, reflection, and leaning on God’s Word, I’ve learned some powerful truths about trusting in His plan and surrendering to His will.
The Struggle to Understand God’s Plan
There are moments in life when we feel lost or uncertain about the next step. Sometimes we feel that we should be doing more, or achieving more, or that we’re not where we should be. I’ve had those moments too. I’ve asked God many times, “What’s next? What am I supposed to be doing? Is this the right path?”
I think we all go through seasons where we’re unsure of what the future holds. We may have dreams, goals, and aspirations, but they don’t always line up with the reality we’re living in. And that’s where the struggle begins, when our plans don’t match up with what’s actually happening in our lives.
For a long time, I felt as though I wasn’t doing enough. I had big dreams but wasn’t sure how to turn them into reality. Sometimes I thought maybe I wasn’t on the right path, or maybe God had a different plan that I wasn’t aware of. But here’s what I’ve learned: it’s not about having all the answers right away. Trusting God’s plan means trusting Him to lead us step by step, even when we don’t have the full picture.
Surrendering to God’s Will
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in my journey is the power of surrender. When we talk about God’s plan for our lives, we often focus on the idea of figuring out what God wants for us. But sometimes, what God truly wants is for us to surrender, surrender our plans, our fears, and our desires to Him.
God has shown me that His plan is always better than anything I could have imagined. It may not always look the way I want it to, and it may take unexpected twists and turns, but in the end, it’s always for my good. His plan is full of grace, love, and purpose, even when we can’t see it clearly.
In my life, there have been moments when I had to let go of control and trust that God knew better. The more I surrendered, the more peace I felt. I didn’t need to have all the answers, I just needed to trust that God would lead me.
Trusting in God’s Timing
Another important part of understanding God’s plan is recognising that His timing is perfect. In our world, we’re often taught to move quickly, to rush, and to get things done. But God’s timing doesn’t work the way we think it should. His plan for our lives unfolds at the right time, even if it doesn’t match our own schedule.
There have been times in my life when I wanted things to happen faster. I wanted to achieve certain goals, reach milestones, or move forward in my career, but I had to learn that God’s timing was different from mine. And as hard as it was, I learned to trust Him in those waiting seasons.
Through it all, I’ve realised that God’s delays are not denials. They are part of His perfect plan, shaping us, teaching us, and preparing us for what lies ahead. And in those waiting moments, God is often doing something deep inside us that we can’t always see or understand right away.
Seeking God’s Will Through Prayer and Scripture
So how do we begin to discern God’s plan for our lives? How do we hear from Him? For me, the answer lies in deepening my relationship with God through prayer, meditation, and reading His Word.
When I was struggling with knowing God’s will, I turned to the Bible. Scripture is filled with wisdom and guidance, and when we study it, we begin to understand God’s character and how He leads His people. One verse that I found especially comforting is from the book of Jeremiah:
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
This verse has been a source of comfort for me because it assures me that God’s plan is not to harm us, but to give us a future full of hope. It’s a reminder that no matter what we face, God has good plans for our lives.
In addition to Scripture, prayer has been essential in my journey. Spending time in prayer allows us to communicate with God, seek His guidance, and ask for clarity. Sometimes, His answers come quickly, and sometimes it takes time. But I’ve learned that God is always faithful to speak to us when we seek Him with an open heart.
God’s Plan and Our Purpose
I’ve also learned that God’s plan for our lives is deeply connected to our purpose. We are not here by accident. God created each of us with a unique purpose, and His plan for us aligns with that purpose.
Sometimes, our purpose can seem unclear, especially when we’re facing challenges or obstacles. But I believe that our purpose often unfolds in small, everyday moments. It’s in the way we serve others, in the relationships we build, in the work we do, and in how we live out our faith.
God’s plan for us is not just about the big moments or milestones, it’s also about the everyday choices we make that bring glory to Him. It’s in the way we show kindness, practice patience, and live with integrity. It’s in the simple, daily acts of obedience that we walk in God’s will.
Finding Peace in God’s Plan
As I’ve walked through the highs and lows of life, I’ve come to realise that finding peace in God’s plan is a choice. It’s a decision to trust Him even when we don’t understand everything. And peace doesn’t mean that everything is perfect, it means that we trust God to lead us, no matter what.
In Philippians 4:6-7, the Bible tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
This verse has been a powerful reminder that we don’t need to have all the answers. Instead, we can give our worries to God and trust that His peace will guard our hearts as we walk in His plan.
My final thoughts on this topic…
God has a perfect, beautiful plan for each of us, and as we seek Him, He will lead us on the path He’s designed for us.
To anyone who is struggling with the question of what God’s plan is for their life, I want to encourage you: keep seeking Him. Keep praying. Keep trusting. God’s plan is unfolding in your life, even if you can’t see it right now. He is faithful, and His plan is always better than anything we could imagine.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I pray that you find peace, joy, and purpose as you walk in the amazing plan God has for you. 💫
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Sending blessing to you!
