Hello, my beautiful sister in Christ! 🌸

I’m so glad you’re here. As I sit in my cosy living room, wrapped in my favourite blanket, the room is filled with a warm, peaceful glow from the soft lighting and the comforting hum of the heater. My little girl is fast asleep in her cot, and the house feels perfectly still, a rare and treasured moment of quiet. In my hands is a hot cup of my favourite homemade vanilla milk, a blend of warm milk, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, and honey. It’s sweet, soothing, and the perfect companion as I talk to you today about the beautiful ways God works in our lives.

Today, I want to talk about something that’s been on my heart, recognising the signs that God is preparing you for the unique calling He has placed on your life. It’s not always easy to see His hand at work, especially in seasons of waiting or uncertainty, but the truth is, that God never stops moving. Just like He equipped Joseph for his extraordinary journey, through both the highs and the lows, God is shaping us for something greater, even when we don’t fully understand the process.

Here are three key signs that God is preparing you for your calling:

1. You’re Experiencing a Time of Testing

If you’re going through a difficult season, one where everything seems to be against you, you’re not alone. One of the first signs that God is preparing you for your calling is the testing period. You might feel like you’re constantly facing challenges, trials, or setbacks that don’t make sense. But what if I told you that those very moments of hardship are part of God’s preparation?

Joseph’s story is a prime example. In Genesis 37, we read how Joseph was betrayed by his own brothers and sold into slavery. Can you imagine the heartbreak, the rejection, and the confusion he must have felt? His dreams of greatness seemed so far out of reach, but God was at work at every step. The hardships Joseph endured weren’t just a coincidence; they were part of God’s plan to shape him into a leader.

Testing is a natural part of our growth. It’s in these moments that God refines our faith and builds our character. James 1:2-4 tells us: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

If you’re in a season of testing, I encourage you to lean into it. God is shaping you, teaching you perseverance, and preparing you for the greater things ahead. The testing is not meant to break you, it’s meant to build you, strengthen your faith, and make you more resilient.

2. You’re Being Positioned in Unexpected Places

God is a master at positioning us in places and situations where we least expect it. When you’re being prepared for your calling, you might find yourself in a job, a relationship, or a place that doesn’t seem to align with your dreams. But I’m here to tell you that God is in those unexpected places, moulding you for the next step.

Let’s take another look at Joseph’s life. After being sold into slavery, he was bought by Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. Joseph’s new position didn’t exactly scream “future leader of Egypt,” but that’s exactly what God had in store for him. In Potiphar’s house, Joseph was able to prove his loyalty, integrity, and leadership skills. It was in this season that Joseph’s potential was discovered and nurtured, even though he was still a servant.

You may be wondering why you’re where you are right now. Maybe you feel stuck in a job that doesn’t excite you or a situation that feels far from your purpose. But I encourage you to trust God in the waiting. Your current position is not a setback, it’s part of His positioning. God is using this time to prepare you for the big things ahead. You’re learning valuable lessons, building relationships, and developing the skills that will serve you when the time comes to step into your calling.

God doesn’t waste any moment. He’s strategically positioning you in places that will equip you for the next step, even when it doesn’t seem to make sense. Keep your heart open to what He’s doing in your life right now.

3. You’re Being Tested in Faithfulness

Faithfulness is a key ingredient in preparing us for our calling. Often, before God opens doors for bigger opportunities, He asks us to be faithful to the little things. Our willingness to serve and remain faithful in small, seemingly insignificant tasks is what prepares us for the greater purpose He has for us.

Joseph’s faithfulness in the small things was evident when he was in Potiphar’s house. Despite being a slave, he worked hard and managed everything with excellence. When Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce him, Joseph remained faithful to God and refused to sin. Even in prison, after he was falsely accused and thrown in jail, Joseph didn’t lose his integrity. He continued to be faithful to whatever he was given to do, and God rewarded him for it.

Luke 16:10 reminds us: “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” Our faithfulness in the small things shows God that we can be trusted with more. If you’re feeling overlooked or like your efforts are going unnoticed, don’t be discouraged. Your faithfulness in these seasons is preparing you for something greater. God sees your heart, and He is building you into the person who can handle the calling He has for you.

The Preparation Process

Now that we’ve talked about these three signs, you might be thinking, What do I do while I’m in the preparation process? Here’s what I’ve learned: Embrace the journey. Waiting, testing, and experiencing discomfort are all part of God’s beautiful design for your life.

  1. Trust God’s Timing: God’s timing is always perfect, even when we don’t understand it. He knows exactly when and how He will reveal your calling. Be patient and trust that His plan is unfolding just as it should.
  2. Seek God in the Process: Don’t wait for the “big reveal” before you seek God. In every step of the process, lean into Him. Spend time in prayer, worship, and reading His Word. He will guide you, and His peace will lead you in the right direction.
  3. Keep Being Faithful: Even when it feels like nothing is happening, keep being faithful. Serve where you are, be diligent with your responsibilities, and continue to grow in your faith. Remember, God sees your heart and your efforts, and He will bless them in His time.

Trusting God’s Favour in the Journey

God’s favour is often quieter than we expect. It’s not always about flashy blessings or immediate rewards. Sometimes, His favour is the peace and strength He gives us when we feel weak. It’s the way He holds us steady when we’re in a storm. His favour is in the quiet moments of preparation when we’re learning to trust Him, be faithful, and keep our hearts aligned with His will.

So, my darling, if you’re in the middle of a testing season, feeling like you’re in an unexpected place, or being challenged to be faithful to the little things, remember, god is preparing you for something amazing, just as He did with Joseph. You may not see it yet, but His plan for you is unfolding perfectly, one step at a time.

Keep trusting, keep seeking, and keep stepping forward in faith. Your calling is waiting for you, and God is preparing you to step into it in His perfect timing.

I’m praying for you, and I know that God is going to use your journey to bless others in ways you can’t even imagine. May you continue to walk in His favour and grace. 💖

Sending blessings your way!

Scherise. X
