Hello darling!

Welcome back to the blog! I’m so glad you’re here. Right now, I’m curled up on the sofa, enjoying the quiet. My little one is fast asleep in her cot, the heater’s on, and it’s nice and warm in here. I just made myself a warm drink—just some milk with nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, and a couple of teaspoons of honey topped with hot water. It’s simple but so good and exactly what I needed to unwind.

Anyway, today I wanted to talk about something that’s been on my heart: being honest with God. If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably had times when you felt like you couldn’t tell Him everything, especially the messy, hard stuff. But the more I’ve grown in my faith, the more I’ve realised how freeing it is to bring everything to Him, questions, frustrations, and all.

Let’s get into why being real with God is so important and how it can change your walk with Him.

The Struggle with Honesty

For years, I struggled with the idea of being completely transparent with God. Like many others, I was taught to focus on gratitude, to always put on a positive face, and to never speak ill of my circumstances. I thought that expressing disappointment, doubt, or anger was a sign of ungratefulness or a lack of faith. I feared that venting my frustrations would only attract more negativity, or worse, that it would alienate me from God.

But as I grew in my personal relationship with God, I began to realise something vital, God wants me to bring all of myself to Him. Not just the good parts, but the struggles, the fears, and even the moments of doubt. He doesn’t expect us to have everything figured out or to pretend we’re always okay. He wants us to come as we are.

A Shift in Perspective

When I started learning about God outside of church, just in my quiet moments of reflection, I began to open up to Him. At first, it was uncomfortable, almost foreign to voice my frustrations. But as I began to be more honest with God, telling Him about the good, the bad, and the crazy, something changed within me.

It felt like I was unloading a weight I didn’t even know I had been carrying. For the first time, I felt a true sense of relief, as if God was right there, listening and understanding every part of me. I could renew my faith in Him, not because I had all the answers, but because I knew that He was big enough to handle my doubts, my questions, and my deepest emotions.

Real Conversations with God

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that God is not afraid of our tough questions. He’s not taken aback when we’re angry or disappointed in Him. If anything, He invites us to speak to Him honestly. I’ve had moments where I’ve questioned Him about everything from life’s injustices to my own struggles. And you know what? He’s patient with me. He listens, He comforts me, and He helps me process those emotions.

I remember a time when I was feeling overwhelmed and emotionally drained. I was struggling with unanswered prayers, watching others around me receive blessings while I felt stuck. I had to bring all those feelings, anger, frustration, and disappointment to God. And He didn’t turn me away. Instead, He provided peace, reminding me that He sees my heart, even when I can’t understand the timing of my life.

Honesty Leads to Healing

Through being honest with God, I’ve experienced healing in ways I never imagined. God doesn’t need our perfect prayers or polished words. What He desires is our authentic hearts. As we sit with Him and express our deepest emotions, whether joy, sorrow, anger, or confusion, He is there, changing our pain into peace.

This doesn’t mean that all of life’s struggles will disappear overnight, but it does mean that we don’t have to carry them alone. In those moments of honesty, God meets us where we are and helps us through the journey. He is our friend in times of distress, and our strength when we feel weak.

A Call to Be Honest

I encourage you, wherever you are in your faith journey, to be honest with God. Don’t hold back the pain, the questions, or the confusion. He already knows your heart, and He’s waiting for you to lay it all before Him. Whether you’re experiencing deep joy or struggling with doubts, remember that God is there, ready to listen and walk with you.

As I’ve learned through my own experiences, being honest with God is not a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of trust. When we bring our whole selves to Him, we are acknowledging that we can’t do this on our own and that’s when He can truly begin to work in us.

So, let’s not shy away from those tough conversations. Let’s bring our real selves to God and trust that He will meet us with love, grace, and understanding. And in the process, He will renew our faith and strengthen our hearts.

What’s been your experience with being honest with God? How has it impacted your faith journey? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you!

Alright, before I go, let me just say this, being honest with God doesn’t mean you have to have all the answers or even know how to put what you’re feeling into words. He’s not looking for perfection He just wants you to come to Him, as you are.

If you’ve been holding back because you think your doubts or struggles are too much, don’t. God already knows what’s on your heart, and He loves you anyway. Trust me, when you start being real with Him, it’s like a weight you didn’t even realise you were carrying gets lifted.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Have you ever had a moment where you just poured everything out to God? How did it feel? Share your story in the comments, I’d love to chat with you about it.

Sending blessings to you!

Hello, darling welcome back to the blog! Today started like any other in our little home. My daughter was up early, enthusiastically (and noisily) deciding that breakfast should involve yoghurt and whatever crumbs were left in the biscuit tin. Meanwhile, I was perched by the window with a cup of tea—barely warm because, let’s be […]

Hello, my darling, Welcome back to the blog! I’m sitting here in my cosy conservatory, one of my favourite spots in the house. Even though it’s a bit chilly today (because, let’s face it, it’s the UK!), the warmth from the heater keeps things just right. I’ve got a fresh cup of tea beside me, […]
