Hello Darling,
Welcome back to the blog! I’m currently sitting down with a warm cup of tea, feeling grateful and cosy, as I write this blog post. Sometimes life feels a little hectic, doesn’t it? But today, I want to share some gentle, practical habits that keep me close to God, grounded, and filled with His peace. These are things I’ve found helpful in staying connected to Jesus, not just on the high energy days but on those quieter days too.
1. Begin the Day with Prayer and Scripture
Mornings are my favourite time to connect with God. I’ve learned that starting the day with just a few quiet moments in prayer or reading a short Bible passage makes such a difference. Even if it’s just five minutes, those few moments set the tone for the day ahead, reminding me that God is with me in whatever comes. It doesn’t have to be complicated, sometimes, it’s just about sharing my heart with Him or listening for a bit of His gentle guidance.
2. Take Care of Your Body as a Temple
God gave us these beautiful bodies to care for, and I’m learning to honour Him through small, mindful choices. Whether it’s preparing a meal that’s both nourishing and delicious or taking a few deep breaths to slow down, taking care of myself feels like a way to say “thank you” to Him. I love starting the day with something comforting like scrambled eggs and a current bun, it helps me feel fueled and ready.
3. Move and Breathe
Exercise has become more than just a “to-do” for me; it’s a way to feel connected and present. Whether I’m stretching, walking outside, or doing a gentle workout, I use this time to pray or reflect. I think of it as a chance to thank God for my body’s strength and to feel His presence as I move. It doesn’t have to be intense or perfect; it’s just about connecting.
4. Lean on God During Hard Times
When life feels tough, I’ve found that leaning into God brings a kind of comfort that nothing else can. I’ll sometimes journal my feelings, listen to a favourite worship song, or simply sit in silence and let God’s peace wash over me. Even on those days when it’s hard to see the silver lining, I know He’s right there, walking with me. He’s the anchor when things feel overwhelming.
5. Build a Supportive Community
Having friends who love Jesus is such a gift. They remind me of God’s promises and encourage me on days when I need a little extra support. Whether it’s a small group or even just one friend, surrounding yourself with people who love and encourage you makes such a difference. There’s something special about having others who’ll pray with you, laugh with you, and even shed a tear with you.
6. Stay Consistent, Even on the Quiet Days
Not every day will feel like a great moment, and that’s okay. I’ve learned to be gentle with myself and to keep showing up even on days when my heart feels a bit quieter. The little things we do daily, like praying or reflecting, create a foundation that keeps us close to Him, rain or shine.
7. Fill Your Heart with Worship and Gratitude
I’ve found so much peace in ending the day by thinking back on little blessings and saying “thank you” to God. Whether it’s the beauty of a sunset, a kind word from a friend, or just a peaceful moment to myself, I try to notice these sweet things God gives us. Gratitude and worship can be woven into our everyday lives, and it draws our hearts closer to His.
8. Lean on God’s Strength in Every Season
Life isn’t always easy, but God is strong when we feel weak. I love reading verses that remind me of this truth, like Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Knowing that He holds us close gives me so much comfort, especially in challenging seasons.
Each of these habits has been a gentle reminder that I’m not alone and that God is with me in every moment, big or small. This life is far from perfect, but it’s beautiful in its own way. Remember, you don’t have to do this alone; God is with you, and I’m cheering you on too. Let’s keep growing one gentle step at a time.
Sending blessings your way!
Scherise. X
