Hello Darling,
Welcome back to the blog! I’m currently wrapped in my favourite jumper—it’s one of those huge, cosy ones that feels like a bear hug. My hair’s in a bun, a steaming cup of mint tea is sitting beside me, filling the room with that calm, earthy smell. The sun’s just coming through the window, and my desk is scattered with journals, markers, and an open Bible, setting the scene for something, well… inspirational, right?
Now, I’ll be honest, there are days when my “morning routine” is more of a “five-minute rush.” But today feels different. The world’s quiet, my tea’s hot, and I’m feeling ready to start thinking about goal-setting for 2025. Not the “I’ll go to the gym every day” or “master a new language” kind (though hey, good for you if that’s the plan). This is about letting God set the pace and taking His lead as I shape my dreams for the year.
So, if you’re still with me, settle in with your own cosy drink, because today, we’re making a prayer board. Not just any board, but one where our goals aren’t just scribbles on paper; they’re acts of faith. Let’s bring our dreams to God, trust His timing, and see where He takes us. Here’s how to get started.
1. Why a Prayer Board Over a Vision Board?
Vision boards are great for visualising goals, but sometimes it’s like giving God our suggestions rather than asking what He’s got in mind. A prayer board is more like, “Lord, here’s my wish list, but feel free to edit.” It’s about letting God have the final say in what makes the cut. Trust me, there’s freedom in not having to be the “master planner.”
2. Start by Surrendering Your Goals to God
Before we start cutting up magazines, let’s start with prayer. I know, surrender sounds tough, especially if you’ve got big dreams you’ve been holding onto for a while. But think of it this way: it’s like giving the ultimate Editor-in-Chief control over your life’s magazine cover. Pray over your board, ask for clarity, and get ready to trust Him even with the ideas.
3. Seek Vision and Direction from God
One of my go-to verses is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…” Lean on God’s wisdom over Pinterest’s latest “vision board trends.” Instead of focusing on what society says we should do, let’s tune in to God’s plan, maybe He’s leading you toward new friendships or giving you the nudge to start that ministry. Go where He’s pointing!
4. Express Faith with Specific Goals
Here’s the fun part: list the things you’re trusting God for, but keep it real. Categories like:
- Spiritual Growth (deeper Bible study?)
- Relationships (praying over family or for friends?)
- Health and Well-being (because, yes, that could use some holy help)
- Career or Ministry (new paths? add them?)
- Dreams and Desires (go ahead, dream big).
Add images or words that reflect these areas, faith-based and specific. God’s open to big requests, so don’t hold back!
5. Add Encouraging Bible Verses and Reminders
Scripture is like the ultimate sticky note on our prayer board. Whether it’s Philippians 4:13 (“I can do all things…”) or Hebrews 11:1 (“Faith is confidence…”), Bible verses keep us encouraged. It’s easy to get lost in the “Pinterest” side of things, but adding Scripture keeps our faith grounded, even when we feel like we’re just holding on by a thread.
6. Visualise with Faith and Thankfulness
Gather images that resonate, not only with the goals but with a grateful heart. Sometimes just knowing we’ve given it to God is enough to bring peace. Thank Him now, even if the year ahead looks a little uncertain. Gratitude changes our outlook—it’s a game-changer!
7. Make It a Daily Devotional Tool
Find a place for your board where you’ll see it every day. It’s more than just décor; it’s a call to prayer. Use it as a daily reminder to lift up those goals to God, ask for His strength and guidance, and remind yourself of the bigger picture.
8. Take Action with Faith
James 2:26 says it well: “Faith without works is dead.” Make sure your prayer board isn’t a one-way ticket to dreamland. Write down practical steps for each goal. Maybe it’s finding a prayer partner, setting a workout schedule, or just scheduling time with loved ones. Let God direct you, but don’t be afraid to get to work.
9. Let Your Board Inspire Hope and Renew Your Faith
When things don’t move as quickly as we’d like, remember: God’s not on our timetable, and that’s okay. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is “confidence in what we hope for.” Let the prayer board be a reminder to trust His timing. Keep pressing on, even if you’re not seeing instant results.
10. Step Out in Faith, Ready to See God’s Miraculous Work
This year, we’re not just setting goals; we’re stepping out in faith. Let’s look at our prayer board as more than just paper and images—it’s a declaration that we’re open to God’s work in our lives. This isn’t about hustling our way through the year but rather opening our hearts to His plans.
Sending blessings your way!
