Hello, darling,

Welcome to my little corner of the internet! It’s a peaceful, yet purposeful morning here, and I’m sitting in my cosy home office, surrounded by all the things that bring me joy. The room is full of natural light, just the way I like it. No harsh fluorescent lighting here! I’ve got my Bible, my journal, and a few notebooks filled with ideas. The scent of freshly brewed coffee is filling the air, and if there were a smell for productivity, this is it. The windows are slightly ajar, letting in a gentle breeze that brings the comforting hum of brids from outside.

Across the room, my daughter Keyana is busy with her toys—dolls in one hand, her little imagination running wild. She’s lost in a game that only she fully understands, and I’m over here, tapping away at my keyboard, probably talking to myself more than I should. But I can’t help but smile at her from time to time, hearing her giggles and chatter in the background. It’s like the sweetest background music, and I’m just grateful for these moments when I can be fully present with her and immersed in my own thoughts.

My faith has deepened in ways I never thought possible, and I’m on a mission to live a life fully. However, this change didn’t happen overnight. It’s been a daily commitment, a walk that requires intentional steps. And that’s what I’m sharing with you today. These six steps have helped me grow spiritually. I hope they inspire you to do the same!

Step 1: Start with Repentance and Conviction

Let’s get real here, repentance is not just a one-time thing. I learned that the hard way! It’s like the Holy Spirit shines a big spotlight on your life, and let me tell you, it’s hard to ignore. The first thing I had to do was face the stuff I had kept hidden, even from myself. If there’s sin in your life that needs to be confessed, start there. Think of it like cleaning your house before you invite someone over, you want to make sure everything’s in order. Once I let go of all the stuff holding me back, God’s grace began to flow in ways I never imagined. So, don’t be afraid to get real with God. He’s not shocked by your mess; He’s waiting to heal it.

Step 2: Daily Prayer and Fasting

Okay, can we talk about fasting for a second? I’ll admit, at first, I thought fasting was only for people who could withstand hunger. But once I gave it a go, I realised it’s an incredibly powerful way to remind myself that I’m not controlled by my body. I’m controlled by the Holy Spirit! Whether it’s fasting from food, social media, or even just taking a break from Netflix, fasting helps me refocus and deepen my connection with God. And let me tell you, some of my best prayer moments have come during fasting. The quiet is deafening, but in a good way. It’s like all the distractions fall away, and I hear God’s voice more clearly.

Step 3: Get into the Word and Memorise Scripture

I know you’ve probably heard this a million times, but it’s worth repeating: the Bible can change your life. I’m not talking about reading it like a textbook, I’m talking about digging deep and letting it become part of you. I’ve memorised some key scriptures like Ephesians 6:12-17 (you know, the armor of God—because let’s be real, we need it!), Ephesians 1:17-23, and Psalms 23 and 91. These verses are like my spiritual armor. When life comes at me, I whip these verses out like a spiritual ninja. The Bible is alive, personal, and packed with power. It’s your ultimate guidebook for life, and it’s the best weapon for spiritual warfare.

Step 4: Prioritise Worship and Journaling

Worship is something I make space for every day. Whether it’s singing my heart out in the shower or silently praising God during my commute, worship helps shift my focus from me to Him. And don’t even get me started on journaling. I have several types of journals one for personal reflection, one for Bible study notes, and one where I track evelations (because sometimes, God speaks to me in the middle of the night!). Journaling has become a way for me to reflect on how far I’ve come and what God has been teaching me. I highly recommend starting your own journal, it’s like having a heart-to-heart with God, but on paper!

Step 5: Surround Yourself with a Strong Community

Can I just say, community is EVERYTHING? You weren’t meant to do this walk alone. If you’re longing for deeper relationships with fellow believers, ask God to connect you with the right people. For me, being part of a community of believers has been like putting on spiritual armor. We pray together, worship together, and encourage one another. It’s not always perfect, but it’s powerful. If you’re not sure where to start, pray and trust that God will lead you to the right people.

Step 6: Walk in Authority and Boldness

Jesus didn’t call us to be timid little lambs. He called us to walk with authority and boldness. I’ve learned to speak His truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. And yes, sometimes it feels like I’m walking into a lion’s den, but I know I’m not alone. God has equipped me with His strength and wisdom to face whatever comes my way. So, if you’re feeling stretched and challenged, know this: God’s got you. He’s calling you to step into your authority and walk boldly in His purpose.

It’s been a wild, amazing journey, but I know this is just the beginning. We are meant to be warriors for Christ, standing firm, being bold, and staying prepared. My prayer for you is that these steps inspire you to go deeper in your walk with God. He’s calling you, just like He called me. Are you ready to answer?

Let’s connect in the comments! I’d love to hear how you’re growing in your faith. And stay tuned for next week’s post, where I’ll be sharing my more. Keep your lamp full, and let’s grow together.

Sending blessings your way!

Scherise. X
