It didn’t take long for me to realise that what I was experiencing wasn’t just random difficulties, it was a spiritual attack. And while that might sound dramatic or even a bit unsettling, it’s important to know that these attacks can take many forms, often targeting our faith, emotions, and well-being. The enemy is sneaky, and he’s always looking for ways to pull us away from the peace, and joy we have in Christ.

I’m sharing 8 signs that you might be under a spiritual attack, along with practical tips on how to fight back with the full armour of God. This isn’t just about recognising the signs—it’s about knowing how to stand firm and protect your peace during the battle. So, grab a warm cup of tea (or coffee, if you’re feeling adventurous) and keep reading. 💗
1. You Don’t Feel Like Yourself
When you’re under attack, it’s common to feel disconnected from your usual self. The enemy tries to disrupt your peace and make you doubt your identity in Christ. You may feel lost, disconnected, or simply out of alignment with who you are.
How to Fight Back: Take time to reflect on who you are in Christ. Meditate on scriptures that remind you of your true identity. start praying and worship to realign yourself with God.
2. Negative Thoughts Overwhelm You
If you find yourself battling constant negative, discouraging, or even sinful thoughts, this could be a sign that the enemy is at work. The enemy often uses our minds as battlegrounds, attempting to plant seeds of doubt, fear, and shame.
How to Fight Back: Counter these thoughts with the truth of God’s word. Say verses like Philippians 4:8, which tells us to think about things that are pure, lovely, and praiseworthy. Don’t let the enemy control your thoughts.
3. Overwhelmed with Temptation
Temptation may feel more intense when you are under spiritual attack. The enemy knows your weaknesses and will try to draw you away from God’s path by tempting you to sin.
How to Fight Back: Use the Word of God to resist temptation. Jesus showed us how to respond to temptation in Matthew 4 by speaking Scripture. When temptation comes, say out loud, “It is written…” and stand firm.
4. There’s No Clear Source of Your Problems
If everything seems to be going wrong, but you can’t pinpoint a clear cause, it might be a sign that you’re under spiritual attack. The enemy will often create chaos in your life, making it difficult to see where the trouble is coming from.
How to Fight Back: Pray for clarity. Ask God to reveal what is at the root of the issue. Keep your focus on Him and trust that He will make a way out of no way.
5. Your Desire for God Diminishes
A lack of desire to pray, read the Bible, or spend time with God is a common sign of spiritual attack. The enemy seeks to drain your passion for the things of God, especially when you’re on the verge of a breakthrough.

6. You Feel Like You’re Regressing
Instead of growing in your faith, you might feel like you’re sliding backwards. The enemy loves to make us feel stuck, as though we’re not making progress in our walk with God.
How to Fight Back: Recognise that spiritual growth isn’t always linear. Press into God even more, and trust that He is working in you. Review your wins and how far you’ve come, and use them to build your faith.

When you’re under spiritual attack, the enemy often encourages isolation. Whether it’s withdrawing from your community or avoiding God’s presence, isolation makes you vulnerable to the enemy’s tactics.

How to Fight Back Against Spiritual Attacks
If you identify with any of these signs, know that the battle isn’t over. There’s a way to fight back and stand firm in your faith. Here are 6 key ways to combat spiritual attacks with the power of Jesus Christ:
- Pray – Prayer is your direct line to God. In the face of attacks, stay in constant communication with Him.
- Use the Word of God – The Bible is your weapon. Declare God’s promises and truth over your life, using Scripture to defeat lies and temptations.
- Worship – Worship is a powerful tool it shifts your focus from your problems to the power of God.
- Stay in Fellowship – Don’t isolate yourself. Stay connected with other believers who can support, pray, and encourage you.
- Put on the Armor of God – Ephesians 6:10-18 talks about putting on the full armour of God to stand firm against the enemy’s schemes. Arm yourself with truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God.
- Know Your Authority in Christ – Remember that as a believer, you have authority over the enemy. Jesus gave you the power to rebuke Satan and all of his attacks. Stand in that authority.
Spiritual attacks are a sign that you’re on the right path, so don’t be discouraged. The enemy may try to stop you, but remember that you have the victory in Jesus Christ. Stand firm, keep fighting, and trust that God is with you every step of the way. His power is greater than any attack. Keep praying, keep believing, and never give up!
I don’t know about you, but sometimes just knowing that I’m not alone in this fight makes all the difference. Spiritual warfare is real, but so is the power we have in Christ to overcome it.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been learning this truth more and more as I’ve faced my battles. And I can honestly say, that while the attacks can feel heavy, I’ve seen God’s hand in each moment, guiding me, strengthening me, and reminding me that His power is greater than anything the enemy can throw my way. It’s easy to forget in the thick of it all, but God’s promises are always true.
I hope these signs and strategies give you the courage to stand tall, knowing that you have the authority to fight back. Whatever you’re facing, remember: You are not alone. Keep pressing forward, stand firm in your faith, and keep your eyes fixed on the One who has already won the battle for you. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep fighting the good fight!
